New to Final Fantasy

I just got a PSone in the mail a few days ago and wanted to play a few of the greatest hits on the system.
I'm into RPG on the side but never played FF so should I start with FFI and play my way down
Or FFVII cause a friend told me to start with 7 cause of the story.
So where to start? and name any other RPG for the PS1 I should try

I think 7 would be a good start, but remember that it's a PS1 game so obviously the graphics are nothing amazing anymore. If you dislike that one though, the FFs are all so different that you are bound to like at least one of them. My personal favourite is 9, which I highly recommend .

Otherwise, the PS1 has Grandia and Legend of Dragoon. I also highly recommend Alundra...it's not a JRPG, but it's soooo good and you should find it cheap enough. It's 2d Zelda-ish, but with a dark, bloody story . One of my favourite games of all time.

I dont really care about graphics i'm more about game play.
I will check out Alundra and Legend of Dragoon but i'm getting Final Fantasy Origins & Final Fantasy Anthology just to see if i might like them next will be FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX

Ok, just remember that FF1 an 2 are extremely basic now. They improve, so maybe it's good that you're starting with the first ones .
