I've been playing the no-materia playthrough lately and I reached the Materia Keeper Every guide says he has between 7600-8400 HP... however, I just dealt a positive [He healed for over 3500] 5000 [Maximum, if not less than that] to him and he died. Either he bugged and his Cure2's did nothing or his HP was adjusted because I had no Materia equipped.

I've also heard that Seraph Sephiroth's HP is also adjusted based on materia equipped... for instance, he supposedly get's 80,000 for you having KoTR equipped, and another 80,000 if you used it on Jenova... or something like that.

I'm just wonder what other bosses are adjusted based on materia... because so far this game actually seems far easier WITHOUT materia than WITH.

EDIT,

...interesting thing I've found here. It seems after trying to dig aorund on google, I cannot find a shred of this happening regarding Materia Keeper. Can anyone else confirm or explain this? I am 100% certain that I did not do over 6,000... and if my rough adding was right, I'm certain I did less than 5,000.

I think Safer Sephiroth just has a solid 160,000 or 180,000 HP, I don't think having KOTR hinders his starting HP. As for Materia Keeper I'm not real sure, I've never kept track. I just know he was quite a button pusher my first time playing. I guess you just have to scan to find out.

No... Safer Sephiroths HP is definitely adjusted. In the No Materia run, I kill him before he can even cast Supernova [About 9-11 hits]... but on my regular saves, if I equip and cast KotR against both Jenova and Him [Exception being Mime, but I don't do that pussy s***t], then the fight lasts much longer, he tanks about 2 KotR, and he gets to cast Supernova at least once, if not twice.

Again... just google it. I found an except by googling in just a min
Not many people know this but Sephiroth's health depends upon a few things. 1.His base HP is 80,000 2.For every character at level 99 his base HP is increased by 30,000 3.If knights of the round was cast upon Jenova Synthesis he recieves an extra 80,000 HP 4. Every time Bizzaro Sephiroth's head was killed his HP is REDUCED by 100 up to a total of 24,900 HP. His maximum HP can reach 400,000.

Sounds about right. I'm just wondering what other bosses HP have been adjusted based on materia, because now that I've beaten the game without materia, I realized about 30% of the bosses that should have lasted far longer, were dead in just 5-10 hits.

My last [Materia wise] run through wasn't that long ago... maybe 4-5 months ago, and Materia keeper definitely gave me a hard time then, but in this No Materia run, he went down without effort and I was 1. Lower level and 2. Doing less damage overall.

So in your "no materia" run did you also refrain from using it against the guard scorpian? also does this include materia like the restore, full cure, and heal materias? something that can otherwise cost you a small fortune in gil? i'm just trying to get a grasp for it as this is actually the first time i've heard of anyone trying that.

though i'd believe that the game would adjust the boss battles for the materia used on them.

i'd even go as far to say that even ruby and/or emerald weapon are adjusted.
