Yes, hello. This seems to be the only way I can get ahold of anyone, so here goes.

A month ago, http://www.s13.invisionfree.com/Terra_Astralis/ (AKA, my forum) was attacked by someone from this forum. When I say attacked, I mean 15 topics on my forum. Advertising and slamming my forum ("This forum is racist!" and other amusing things) and overall just being nasty. Needless to say, I was furious, as was our head admin, moderator, and many of our members.

I followed one of the links and, of course, came here. Now, I was quite surprised. We had been attacked by a new and slightly less active forum earlier in the week. I immediately saw the reason that we were so ruthlessly attacked - do you all remember that "Referral contest" that an admin started? Aye, that is likely what made the person come after us.

I PMed the admin (I believe their name is Jecht...?) who made the contest thread and never recieved a reply. I figured maybe they had lost connection to the internet or were really busy, maybe they'd get on soon and PM me back.

No such luck, of course, so here you are. An admin of another RP site's tale of woe, etc, etc. I would have liked to keep it quiet so the rep of this forum was spared for the most part, but, alas, as I have previously stated, I, of course, had no such luck.
 
I don't think Jecht has been on in a while. But how could a refferal contest make people say your site was a racist?
 
Very simply, fellow Floridian!

The person who spammed us to Hell and back was not creative enough to come up with a couple other versions of their advertisements. I think the whole "racist omg" thing was because we're a modern fantasy site - you know, Angels, Demons, Vampires, Lycans? That sort of thing. So they thought "lol i bet deyr racist!11one!1!1!" or something of the like and bam! there's fifteen posts all saying the same thing about how your site is "omg wayyyy bedder!1one!" and how our site is dead and racist and just a whole bunch of lulz in general, except for the fact that it was Hell to clean up.
 
I think I know someone who would do something like that, but they're from a different site......
 
Oh yes, I know someone rude enough to do something like that as well, but they also are from another site.

*wry smile* Right you are, but when I try to send any of them PMs, they never end up sending. ONF = baadddd internet connection.
 
Well, there's nothing you can do about it if your sites already dead. but would you mind saying how you got an invisionfree site to get members?
 
Our site isn't exactly dead - not mega-active is more like it; some of our members were scared off during the Flame Wars we went through last month. As for how we got members, it was through affiliation, seeing which of our friends would be interested in joining and getting them to do so, and boosting our hits on the forum directory. Not through spamming, if that is what you are hinting at.
 
Hmm, it's strange that you can't PM them. If they have put it in their profile, you could always talk to one of the admins on MSN, AIM or Yahoo so you can find out exactly what is going on. Because afterall, you have the right to know who it was from this site that spammed up your forum.
 
Dammit, this bloody distgusts me - I'm sorry for any trouble caused, and I think a ban for the offending member seems the right option, as he has caused you a lot of bother.
 
Do you have a name or e-mail address of the person who did it?

Help us to identify the individual. We do not want this kind of thing to give us at FFF a bad rep.
 
*sighs* I would have, had it been a month ago...Apparently, though, since then, our head admin got into a rage and deleted just about everything about said member. However...we do have the IP address.
 
Then hand it over to us, and we can deal with whatever comes up on our IP search.
 
I'm sorry to hear such thing happened to you!! I'm sure it gave you a lot of hard time...I hope that your forum will back like it used to...
