[Lets Play] Final Fantasy VII

Kira and I decided to randomly replay FF7 and we decided to keep our happy little journals here. :griin:

So I will post all my progress and Cloud noodz here. Starting off the game I actually admit I was only half paying attention the start up screen until it got around to the train. The beginning with the stars and Aeris is so boring. :ffs:

After a quick edit of my options and colors I was on my way. Although, for some reason the awesome orange I use looks like baby barf in these screenshots. I'm not entirely sure what to blame for that. My TV or my computer monitor.

I really just rushed through the beginning level here (or at least through the fights). The introductory level seems so up and down but I made it through all the same, I guess.

In Sector 6 I tried my best to get all the items I could while NOT getting Cloud picked. I want all the looooot. :jay:

In the end Aeris was picked and I was chased around by a bunch of guys who wanted my penis.

From here I did my best to pick everything up on my forward but have thus far missed 3 enemy skills, the chocomog summon and something I can't even remember now. :grumpy:

I'm basically just running around at this point, aimlessly searching for those giant worms in the desert. :edd:

They're great for building my limit breakers up, I think. The occasional cactaur makes it worth my while, to. 10,000 gil is hard to beat.

So... As explained above, Jeff and I started to make a new start on Final Fantasy VII, and aim to complete the full game, with all side quests, materias, weapons, and all that stuff. I'm doing pretty well compared to Jeff's missed enemy skills, and summon already. :wacky:

At this moment, I just finished the Jenova boss on the Cargo Ship from Junon to Costa del Sol. It was an easy battle seeing I level grinded a lot before crossing the swamp near the Chocobo Ranch. I actually wanted to obtain the Beta enemy skill from the Midgar Zolom but I was still a too low of a level for that. :sad3:

So after becoming a level 20, I decided to move on and come back later. Currently I am right outside Costa del Sol. Wish I took pictures from the beginning, but I can't record my screen and I forgot about the phone. So I started just now with making "screen shots" and just taking a picture of my screen. xD Just in time for the funny part.

Telling Aeris I never thought of her like that didn't make her happy. :wacky:

And of course, I had to kick the ball at Red XIII once before I felt bad. :sad3:

I like this thread! Hope you all don't mind that I participate. I actually recently restarted FF7 as well so that I could have a nice distraction from school and work.

A little info about my gameplay:

1) I'm playing the PC version of FF using ISOs. I've used a single mod on the game, and it is not one used to facilitate my journey or ruin the spirit of the game. It's merely a graphic enhancer. This is actually my first time playing the PC version, let alone modded; that's actually the main reason why I wanted to have at a replay.

2) Sometimes I make quirky decisions to resist broken fights. For instance, I'm not gonna stock up on fire resistance if I know the boss is a fire type. I try to find ways around it by using my characters' strengths.

Without further adue...

I start my journal in Gongaga with the following party:
Cloud Strife (17) - Tifa Lockhart (17) - Aeris Gainsborough (20)

We encounter Rude and Reno, whereupon I'm reminded how much trolling you can do with Cloud:

We kick the Turks' asses and move on to hear about Aeris' ex love. She and Tifa get all pissy about Zack so I make like a smooth operator and fix stuff.

Gongaga gets boring and we need to keep going for Sephiroth but the Batmobile breaks down and we stop off in some hippy-nowheresville place called Cosmo Canyon. Everyone here's kind of mean. Budgenhagen laughed @ our journey and some guy said we're all weird-looking. We make peace though, and get to go to some planetarium, wherein we learn that Aeris used to be an astronaut:

My favorite scene comes when the gang sits around the campfire with smores and payote as they trade legendary tales (no screens??) Red XIII makes Tidus' daddy issues look tame. Bugen hears that Red XIII called his dad weaksauce so he sends us in this dangerous dungeon to find out the contrary:

This scene is honestly quite touching.

We make it through the dungeon. The cool thing is that Cloud got Blade Beam and Climhazzard while Red XIII got Blood Fest & Stardust Ray en route to the boss. As we make way to Nibelheim, my party now looks like this:

Ugh. I accidentally sprinted through the Corel Prison without realizing I wanted to 1) level grind there, and 2) get the Laser enemy skill. It's frustrating 'cause I haven't missed anything so far yet, so to have this on my mind bothers the shit out of me. Needless to say I went to find Dyne right away, won the Chocobo race on my first try.

Before that of course, CaitSith forced himself up on us, so I had to get revenge by renaming him just for the lolz. I actually just named him Cait Sith in my game, but it took all my strength to not hit Select when I changed his name to Shit. :andry:

I basically sprinted off (well, in the buggy technically) to Gongaga village to get Deathblow. HELL YES. Deathblow. :ohshit:

Finally gave Tifa her baby back. :grin:

Currently, our piece of poop buggy broke down, and now we're stuck in Cosmo Canyon. (I love that place, and the music) We're currently at Tiger Lily's shop's save point, and I stopped there. I collected my party members to go see Bugenhagen's remake of the Universe.

So after shuffling my way out of the desert prison (finally) I hop in my brand new armored APC and roll on over to Cosmo Canyon to shoot shit. In route, we bump into a group of hippies who can't seem to pronounce 'Red XIII', Red's grandpa amongst them.

Now I don't seem to sound ungrateful, but Gramp's knowledge must not be about proper grammar. I tried to explain the issue with the sentence and he got all pissy about it and started shouting obscenities.

In the end, we gave up trying to explain it and just accepted the fact that he's from a different era and might be a bit senile. With the dust settling, Gramp's shared this cool story about how Red's slacker dad ran off in the middle of a battle to go get stoned. Hippies. What are you gonna do?

After finishing up in Cosmo Canyon I went about picking up different enemy skills and such that I might need. I also remember to get Trine from the Materia Keeper on my way towards Rocket Town.

Once in Rocket Town, I made myself at home. I met with the locals and purchased all the supplies I would need. The people there were very kind to me.

It figures that as soon as I start enjoying myself that Rufus and co. show up to spoil my fun. Fat man Palmer tried stealing my flying boat-to-be. He was very mean and made many sexual gestures at me in the attempt to make me feel uncomfortable.

They were very mean, so we all ran away and parked our airplane in the ocean. Cid was not very happy we broke his airplane. I felt very bad.

Yuffie suggested we go west, so we did so. She was not very nice and truthful. She stole our materia and ran away. When we caught her, we managed to work out a nice deal with this familiar looking guy to take her away and punish her for us.

We later went to go check in on them and make sure everything was going well. He was very happy and he even offered to take Aeris off our hands.

Sadly, once again people from Shin-Ra showed up to spoil our fun and turned the nice man into a splat on some giant man's foot. After this we had to find a new place to find a nice old man to take Yuffie from us, thankfully we met lots of men who seemed to really, really like her in the Gold Saucer.

I went there in search of a nice old man but sadly none were found. We spent much time here having fun, though. We went to the chocobo races they host there and though we won, it seemed unfair as the man riding the green chocobo is apparently half chocobo himself. He won a lot.

With our GP winnings, we went to the Battle Square and participated in enough battles to buy out all of the prizes offered there that I did not have. I was sad that they didn't offer ribbons like I thought they did.

I'll try to update again soon so my next post is not quite as long.
