One of my favorite non FF game for ps1, Legend of Mana is your own world. you choose where each place goes, and during the course of the game, you do various quests to help others and gain artifacts that summon the areas. you also gain the aid of allies like pet monsters, and magic formed from energy from the eight spirits: Shade(darkness), Wisp(light), Aura(gold), Dryad(nature),Gnome(earth),Salamander(fire),Undine(water),and Jinn(wind). Has anyone else played this game before?

It's a decent game, I mean...being able to make your own weapons and golems to help you in battle is very nice I believe. The art in the game is also amazing, water colors and drawings makes it looks like a graphic novel. Game play is okay, but battles can get hard at times. Despite the good stuff, I found the game to be short, or maybe it's just me.

actually, it is a bit short, but you can make it harder after you beat the game once by going onto the profile you beat the game with (look for a musical note next to it) go to your personal library, and go to the forbidden tome. depending on your answers, the game gets more difficult.

EDIT: i just now found out that SE made the mana games, including this one. could a mod please move this to the World is Square forum for me?

actually the game isn't short at all. You have to get into the stories and once you get into the stories new lands open up. Even if the battles were sometimes challenging that just makes it the more interesting. The characters were deep and the stories in dealing with them were amazing and overall, that game is EPIC.
Legend of Mana for the win<3

Haven't played Legend, but I played Secret of Mana on the SNES. That game was entertaining. The names of the spirits are similar. I remember Gnome, Salamander, and Undine specifically. Good times. Nostalgia ftw.
