I remember being happy I beat what i thought was the last boss, left the room and thought I was letting the credits run. I come back to see me almost getting killed by that huge mechanic looking thing.

Do you mean you thought Kuja was the final boss? Even if you thought you'd defeated Kuja, didn't you want to actually see the ending? Plus I thought you wouldn't go straight to Necron as you have to press X to listen to Necron talk and then you have to select your party to battle him anyway. So leaving the room for a while wouldn't mean the final battle would wind up starting without you - or am I wrong?
You're right, the fact of skipping the conversation, and selecting the characters for the final fight.
That doesn't actually make you go into Necron directly, unless you're saying indirectly that you didn't expect Necron at the end lol, I got the same expression.

Why would you leave during the credits!? People who don't watch the credits run after a great game are missing an epilogue, the ending music, and time to let that awesome game you just spent the last few weeks playing really sink in.

Necrons a great boss. I love tearin down different versions of 'God'. But I also like the more difficult ones, I thought Ozma was great, but he's also very deity-like. Sorta seems like he's all knowing because you cant even begin to understand how he's even alive or why he's so flippin strong.
