Due to the PvP getting a forum of it's own and Janus being the only person who can run the system (I think). Doesn't it make since to make him a mod of that section to allow him to make nessessary edits, and clean up after the fights?

The pros of this is that the section would be manned by the operator of it, while the cons are that the person has only been here for a few months.

In my opinion he should become a mod of only that section and allowed to run it in a effecent and timely manner.

I totally agree. Janus would know exactly what qualifies as a valid post, so to speak, much better than any current mods. With Janus being the only mod, the whole section would run like a well-oiled machine. I'm surprised he hasn't already gained the mod status of his own section, giving its popularity.

I think more people would agree with this idea if Janus wasn't the only mod in charge of the section. One plan would be to make a new type of forums staff position called something like "PvP Gamemaster". He would have the control over the PvP section like a mod would, but the mod that is in charge of the spam section would out rank him, and be able to undo anything that Janus has done.

I think it's a good idea, but I don't think that it is likely to be implemented seeing as how the staff doesn't take nominations and requests outside the staff.

I think players of the PvP who are mods should be more likely to be mods of that section - like Vikki. The PvP sometimes gets us riled up, and someone with more modding experience should be the one to calm that down. I don't think a PvP GM position should be made if just one person is going to be it.

The thing you fail to understand, is that Janus needs to constantly have access to the ability to edit the posts and delete superfluous, old battles and update certain aspects of preexisting posts. Like I said, he would be arbitrating it like a well-oiled machine, and when you mix oil, your car fucks up permanently. The mods don't need to have arbitrary rights over him because he knows what content qualifies as valid posts, and again, he needs to be able to update certain posts. I wager he'd like to NOT have the PvP flooded with old Signup threads that just sit there. Do all spam threads get archived even though they need to be deleted? What's the point of archiving spam? >_> I hope I know what I'm talking about. :ness:

I'm sure that if the Mods, Admins, et al feel the need to appoint a PvP GameMaster, they will do so. And, if Janus feels that such a post is needed, I'm sure he'd take the appropriate steps to bring it to the attention of the proper authorities. As it stands now, it seems the needed posts are stickied, and the unused posts fall to the wayside. I don't see a clamor to get rid of the old threads, so this is a little premature imo. Let's not put the PvP cart in front of the PvP horse.

By the way, not trying to sound like I'm against Zen having powahs (though that would be on the dangerous side of the street). If he gets the nod, more power to him.

Janus can just ask a mod to do it, it'd take two seconds, and yes mods aren't on 24/7, but neither is Janus.

This.

Also. This topic is a moot point. It's been discussed in staff, and between the admins, and the answer is a unanimous no. Sorry guys, but it's just not a necessity.

A lot of aspects aren't necessities, per se, but some things are called for, through quiet whispers, if not roars. If I created a poll that says "We need GFX Tutorial Clan" and everyone agreed with me, the admins would still have some reason to reject it. I know I have no pull or influence over anything, and this might get on your nerves enough to have me banned, but what argument can be made over this statement: "Janus owns the game, and all rights to it. Though this forum is used to play the game, he has to deal with moderators being over him, telling him that the only thing he can arbitrate, is the results of people's battles. He can't make much-needed quick fixes to vital posts, and he can't keep things up and running daily with as much accuracy and frequency as he'd like to. Why would Janus becoming the moderator of the section he started catalyze more bad than good? In my opinion, I think the answer needs to be produced, rather than keeping us in the dark with vague agency speak and come out with it: Why not?"

Pretty much everyone answering 'no' has said why not. They've given reasons why, and Mark already said no. You're only dragging out the topic and smart-sounding posts don't change that. :wacky:

As Mark has already said, this issue has been discussed, a unanimous decision was reached, so there's no sense in keeping this thread open
