Alright everyone, I just for the first time received in the mail my own personal copy of Final Fantasy7!!! Yes, I know, exciting right? I mean, after 10 years to finally have it? W00t.

Any who, which one of you wants to step up and give me the best things I should do first to get off on the right foot?

(And whats the secret to keeping Aeris alive?)

Lol there is no way to keep her alive unless you use cheats!

Train Cloud and Barret to level 10 at the begining!

Make sure you buy two bolt, one fire and one cure materia from the materia shop after the 1st sequence of the game.

If you want future tips i´ll be glad to assist but i won´t say more for now because i don´t wanna ruin the game for you!

Plus use Aeris only to develop materia for the other characters.

Well, the only way of keeping Aeris alive is by a Gameshark but technically it isn't really keeping her alive as the story will continue with her being dead, except you can use her. I would play through the game normally and maybe think about doing that another time.

lucky you, how much did you have to pay for it? i lost my first disc ages ago and lost the memory card my game was saved on too (don't worry ive gotten more responsible, i was 10 ). i need to get a new copy since i have such an urge to play this.

So, youve never played it before at all?

Here's a tip.

DONT attack Gaurd Scorpion when his tail is in the air. lol

Ah briliant, since you like FFVIII, im sure you'll love it.
im tempted to play it again actually

If you want advise i say use your limits as often as you can the more you use them the quicker they upgrade. though there hand to keep for bosses to.

Partly yes but make sure to also kill a lot of enemies with all characters. Some Limits you need to use a certain amount of times so if you are levelling up, always use them but other limit breaks you need to kill so many enemies with that character.

EDIT: I don't know about everyone else but usually in an FF game you would want a specific member for healing but in FFVII it doesn't really matter that much so I would give anyone in your party a good selection of materia as this is also one of the few games in which I favoured magic in general over attacking except against a few bosses.

Make sure your people are lvl 20 before you leave midgar. Make sure to be atleast lvl 35 before reaching Cosmo Canyon, and make sure your people are over lvl 45 by the time you lose aerith. You'll be set after that. Oh yea, make sure to be lvl 55 or higher when you fight the last battle...Thkat's how I do it atleast. I just started a new game actually and I am at Cosmo Canyon, and I have all characters Limit Breaks(except the last ones) and they are on lvl 40+

Wow, what the hell do you do, just run around and fight for hours?

Conratulations. lol.
My advice is to run around and level up like crazy.
You don't need to but I just love having high level characters early in the game. Be sure to check areas thoroughly for items, because treasure chests tend to be tucked away and out of sight sometimes...

And the secret to keeping aeris alive is a gameshark. =]
