Is it a good idea to have all characters in FF2 train weapons, white magic and black magic all at once?

Topic title, basically, but there are also a few things that I want to add.

Like I said, I am considering starting a playthrough where all characters essentially do everything, so that there are no limitations at all to what they can do.
However, I am also gonna give each character distinct priorities, so that they focus on different things, even though they technically have access to everything.
Here is what I am currently thinking:

Everyone will start training the weapons that they come equipped with, and then maybe train additional weapons every now and then by holding them in their non-dominant hands
(for example, Frioniel might carry a spear around, which is fairly similar to a sword).
Also, Frioniel, Maria and Guy will focus on specific types of spells, and at the moment I am thinking of having Frioniel be a "Green Mage" who primarily trains buff/debuff spells (like Safe, Shell, Blink, and Mute), whereas Maria will be a "Black Mage" who primarily trains attack spells (like Fire, Ice, Bolt, Aero and Flare), and finally Guy will be a "White Mage", who primarily trains healing spells (mainly Cure, Life, and Heal, I guess, although those spells are some of the most important spells in the game).
Then the other characters can step in as substitutes or extra helpers whenever this becomes useful;
for example, Frioniel or Maria can throw Life if Guy dies, and everyone can cast Fire if I run into a monster that is weak to Fire spells.

How do you think that all this will work?
I am aware that there are a lot of "conflicting stats" stuff in this game, so I guess I will end up with characters that are only half-decent at everything, but maybe it is possible to juggle those increasing and decreasing stats back and forth so that all of them end up being fairly high, or something like that.
