I really want to play Chrono Trigger. I heard it's amazing. But I do not own a SNES or DS. I heard that it's a good package, but the load times are horrendous. Is it worth getting? First-hand experience would be great. Thanks.

Wait, so which game do you want to know about....? The title says Chronicles, but the thread says Chrono Trigger. Sorry if I misread, or something..

Final Fantasy Chronicles is a compilation of FF4 and Chrono Trigger on PS1 in 1999( I believe this year is right).

Sorry, I thought you meant Crystal Chronicles. I don't really know anything about it, so I won't be of much help to you.

The load times are horrendous. But the thing is, it's fucking chrono trigger. It's worth it. Easily my favorite RPG of all time, and in my opinion, superior to any of the final fantasy games. I'd say pick up some version of it no matter what, but grab the PSX version only if you have absolutely no other way to play it. If you can wait to pick up a ds sooner or later, I'd wait.

The DS version is more or less the definitive version, that helps tie up some of the loose ends between it and chrono cross. That and you're missing out on one hell of an awesome library of games by not owning a DS anyways. (Hell the DS is worth it for CTDS and the Ace Attorney series alone)

FFIV and Chrono Trigger are both amazing games, and if you don't have any other means of playing them, then Final Fantasy Chronicles is definitely worth it. Obviously, the DS versions of Chrono Trigger and FFIV are the better versions, but as far as I'm aware, apart from the load times you mentioned, there are no problems with the PS1 versions of the games ^^
