Because it looks like a huge portion of the cutscenes are 'secretly' prerendered. If you simply watch the trailer you can tell half of the cutscenes TRY to look like they're in-game, but clearly aren't. The graphics are simply too good for the PSP. There are certain cutscenes in the trailer that definitely are in game: The lip-sync not being very impressive, the edges being extra jagged on character models and etc.

I just hate when games 'cheat' by using pre-rendered cutscenes that are simply videos created by a beefed up version of the game's cinematic engine. I'd prefer to see the actual capabilities of the system's hardware.

Just watch the trailer for yourself and keep your eye out for inconsistent cutscene quality differences. I'm afraid most of the discs' space will be occupied by a bunch of videos that will feature light pixelation due to video bitrates. You'll be able to tell when it's pre-rendered and when it's not, if you look closely. Crisis Core used this very lightly, when a lightning system slightly more advanced than the game's needed to be used... But that was only about 5% of the game. Another example which appears to be very similar to Type-0, is Xenosaga. In Xenosaga, it seems 50% of the cutscenes are all pre-rendered, even though they appear like they're in game. The game just fools you into thinking that it can handle high resolution textures and advanced lighting...

Before you freak out, I don't mind if it's the super technologically advanced CGI FMV sequences that you experienced in games like Final Fantasy VII-XIII. The ones that OBVIOUSLY didn't use the game's engine. But when they cheat and try to make it look CLOSE TO the actual game's graphics, I just get bothered by it because if you look closely you see pixelation from the video's bitrate, like I already mentioned.

Ugh, sorry for the rambling, just a major pet peeve of mine. Is anyone else aware of these sorts of things or bothered by it?
