Tech I cannot create a partition

I have trouble recovering my portable hard drive and just plain creating a partition for it now. Because of a blackout that occurred in my area, my netrwork shares are gone and my portable harddrive has been corruptesd so I attempted to restore said harddrive meanwhile making sure that the other is alright. I found that I could not access the harddrive so I attempted to format it however I accidentally deleted all my files on my good portable harddrive :upset: as well as my other one. I am trying to recover my files while create an NTFS partition om external harddrives but I keep getting that I cannot access the drives neither can reformat because the drives aren't partition so I am basically roaming around in circles. Can anyone help me?

Make sure that the computer reads from the CD-ROM first. Put in the OS disk that you want to put on the HD, then turn on the PC. load up the disk and follow the steps and it should create the partition.

I have a class on this stuff, so I could figure it out pretty easily, it would just have to wait until Tuesday, when my class is.
