Hi Everyone.
This story is a little embarrassing, but this being an FF forum, I'll tell it.
Some time ago when I was younger at Christmas time, I received a SNES with FF II. Couldn't wait to play it. My brother gave me a Game Genie. Despite the warnings I read about how it could cause some effects to become permanent, I still used it. I entered a code that allowed Dragoon to do insane damage with his "Jump" attack. Lo and behold, during one fight, he jumped up and didn't come back down. I tried resetting the game, taking the cart out and blowing on it, I even tried starting a new quest. Nothing worked. The local store it was bought at, of course, was out of stock of that particular title and couldn't say with any degree of certainty when more will come in. Not wanting to wait an eternity, I decided to try and pull a swifty and accuse Square of bad service and not tell them that I used the Genie. I wrote this scathing letter to Square going on about how expensive these games are and how unprofessional of them it was to be cranking out defective games. I really let 'em have it. I included my phone number in the hopes that they would contact me that way when they received the package to save waiting for a million years to hear from them by mail. I put the letter in a box with the game and mailed it to them. A few weeks later I received a call from them. I was about to play the role and start into them big time when the guy on the phone cut me off and said: "I'll bet that you didn't think we'd know that you used a game genie on it huh? We can't help you. We'll return the cartridge to you." I was speechless. Caught completely off guard! lol
