Hello.

I have not played any Final Fantasy games, but I want to try to get into them. So I have downloaded a demo version of Final Fantasy VII. And I am having trouble getting it to run.

I guess the forum probably does not support pirated downloads, but I figure the demo should be legitimate enough.

I am on a PC, running Windows XP, which is probably the problem, since I gather XP is not officially supported.

The demo starts fine. A logo or two shows up and fades. Then MIDI music starts, and I see a little guy (Cloud?) running across the screen. Then everything goes black and the demo crashes with an error message.

Now, I am hesitant to buy the full game when I have never tried it and am not sure I will even be able to run it. So, can anyone advise me on how to get the demo to run, or otherwise get a chance to try out the game?

Thanks in advance.

I'l move this over to computing and technology,

I reckon XP is your problem, because it fails. bUt I have no knowledge on the matter...so uh, I'l just move the thread for you

What does the error message say? Anyways, I think there's a patch for the full game for XP, you could try that.

Thanks for the reply.

The error message says nothing intelligent, just: "ff7demo.exe has encountered an error and will terminate. Do you wish to inform Microsoft about the error?"

Anyways, I think there's a patch for the full game for XP, you could try that.
Thanks. I will look into that.
