While i was playing FF8 [stupid island closest to hell T^T] my Playstation 2 it Froze and it wouldnt read any more disks so i cleaned the lenses and made sure it was aligned but it still would not read.

So i was looking on Ebay for a cheap PS2 and I found one tht is only selling the console which is what I want but then i read it doesnt come with a hard drive

So my question is do I need a hard drive to play my PS2 games

I thought the hard drive is something you save info to but isnt tht what memory cards are for?

Yeah, but I've heard that you can mod ps2s so that they have a hard drive that it can boot games from, probably possible to save to as well.

And yeah, thats what memory cards are for, but hackers sure like to fix things to their liking =D

PS2s don't come with Hard Drives as standard so you won't have any problems using it but you'll need to purchase a memory card for saves if you don't already have one.

What he said.....My PS2 never had a hard drive. Just get a slimline one, they are pretty cheap these days & don't take up all that room

You really don't need a hard drive, unless you intend on playing games such as Final Fantasy XI which requires ones.

Like the others said, just buy a memory card off of eBay, I remember buying one a few months back for something like £7.
