If you had a chance to redesign any game franchise to your own liking and how would you improve it, at least in your opinion?

I would probably choose pokemon. First off, I'd completely cut the stupid childish stuff. Kill the crap about them only being able to say their own name, kill the name of the game itself, and kill all the childishness in general. No more little preteens riding around on bikes from one poke-gym and using poke-balls to catch poke-mon in their poke-world. It's just a horribly bullshit concept. Everything surrounding the pokemon concept is complete and utter bullshit other than capturing and training the critters themselves.

After all the fluff is cut and all that remains is actually just catching, training, and battling, there sill needs to be some changes. First off is the design of all the creatures themselves. Although there are hundreds of pokemon now, those pokemon don't actually "exist", they were simply added, piled on, thrown in there to keep people playing. The original design was simplistic but it worked well. They've added various types, tons of creatures, and lots of legendary pokemon depending on the part of the world they're in.

I'm a big fan of developing creatures instead of just taking them as they are. I'd much rather catch a critter that had certain strengths and weaknesses but could be taught anything based on the way they were leveled. I honestly think the best pokemon experience could be achieved online, in which there would be specific quests that trained pokemon in a certain technique. Any pokemon could be trained to do any technique but some were naturally stronger in various areas than others (grass, rock, fire). And with that thought, I'd also like to add that not every pokemon caught that is of the same type should have the exact same statistics for its level (HP, speed). There should be naturally occurring "rare" pokemon, simply by chance since spawned monsters could have randomized statistics. I would also like to see brand new creatures with brand new designs and completely new natural attack sets by a completely different artist, since I find the current one pitiful.

After the creatures are redesigned and recreated, the whole gameplay itself should change. First off and foremost, camera view. There is no reason these should play as top down games. 3rd Person view with 3D creatures for catching. Catching should have nothing with pokeballs. Honestly that is the dumbest concept I've ever heard of. The series as a whole constantly talks about the creature respecting the master. That's what should determine whether or not a pokemon joins you. And pokemon should not be kept in little balls that magically shoot rays of light to let the creature out. It's moronic. The pokemon should stay by your side. As is standard, only six should be allowed to travel with you... and only one allowed to fight at a time in match fights but there's no reason to have them in pokeballs. There's no reason all your pokemon couldn't fight in battle at one time. This would allow you to fight many levels above where your current creatures stand. It would also allow for more epic battles and make it so that you didn't need to travel with other players if you didn't need to. The only other modification is the addition of the ATB type system and not turn-based, as has been the staple of the system so far.

Is this just you making another thread where you bash games without either really understanding 100% what you're on about or taking it way too seriously since that's what it seems like.

Anyway I wouldn't redesign any game I don't like or genres I have problems with since I try to in those situations to do the senisble thing and not play them to begin with.

However for the sake of the thread I wouldn't mind too much if in RPGs there was a bit of originality in most RPGs with regards to the story, expecting games to bring stories as deep or good as the Dune or A Song of Fire and Ice series is maybe expecting too much but something beyond the normal group of kids/teenagers defeating some ancient evil (which more often than not they themselves are responsible for awakening) while possibly taking on an Empire would be great on occasion.
