Truly, the Dek'ra was telling the truth when they said that I would suffer. A glimpse upon the world once more confirms what I tried so hard to stop. To think that I would come to no better end than this. No, there must be hope. Perhaps mortality is destiny, it's what makes us human. It breaks free of the veil and shows us the way to truth. I defied this destiny, and am now cast into darkness. Terras Omega gathers strength in the world of men, and it shall soon be consumed... even the heroes of old have been lost to time. The blood of the monster once cast out has been reborn in the shade, and only the last bit of light still shows through the veil. Perhaps chance has brought you. Perhaps fate. But your duty is clear.

You must save the world.

When you wake up, the first thing you notice is how warm it feels. You blink, and soon a small room comes in to focus... you're laying on a bed, not the most comforable of beds, but for some reason, you can't move out of it. What happened, where am I, you wonder. You slowly force your head to the side, and see a tall, muscular man stirring something in a large, black pot. It smells like grease.

"Bout time you got up there, eh?" he calls to you, as you finally struggle out of bed. He give you some of his stew, and you gladly (but cautiously) drink it. "I found you just lying outside, just like you are now. You looked pale, so I thought I'd take you in for a bit," he tells you nervously. You ask him where you are. "Heh, you're serious, eh?" Your look is a suitable response. "No need for an attitude," he responds. "You're in the outskirts of Midgar, capital of Ivalace."

You have no memory of any place called Midgar or Ivalace. Taking his word for it, you ask if there is anyone else who could help. "I recommend meeting the Mayor. I hear he's going through town today." You thank him for his help, and walk in to the awe-inspiring behemoth that is Midgar. Looking back at your friend's hut, it contrasts sharply with the massive towers that overlook the city. You take a deep breath of the crisp, open air, and wander down the road that your friend found you on outside.

And so your journey begins...

-RPG Summary- Shows you name, status, and level.

-Edit RPG Profile- Allows you to change your RPG name, avatar (personal battle image), and size of your image. You will be automatically directed to this menu when you first create your account. NOTE: Even if you have an avatar uploaded, you will not see if the size is set to 0x0. What you see on the Edit RPG Profile screen is exactly what you will see in battle.

-RPG Inferno Options- Allows you to change the settings of many of the RPG's more minor aspects. I recommend clicking all of these (especially the first 5).

The World Map:

The world map is an important tool in the FFF RPG Inferno. This is used to instantly travel to most areas you have visited, without any monster encounters along the way. It also allows you to visit areas that have no travel service to them, something that you will need to do to progress in the game. NOTE: Certain areas, including the insides of caves, cannot be travelled to from the world map. You also must travel to an area fist before it will appear on your world map. If a message says that you can now travel to a certain area, that area will appear on your map, whether you have travelled to it or not.

Features on the world map:

-Locations: Shows markers representing areas you have already visited. The area you are currently in is highlighted in black.

-Map Legends: Shows what kind of area each location is. For example, if an location is a light blue dot, you can be sure that it is a beach area. This allows you to easily pinpoint a location without having to know it's name.

-Zoom Factor: Allows you to zoom in on the entire map. This can be a useful feature if you want to see crowded areas more clearly.

Scan Yourself:

The Scan Yourself button shows vitually all information regarding your character. This menu is not necessary to progress in the game. To find more info about specific menus in the Scan Yourself option, please ask in a help thread.

Help Files:

Currently serves no function. If you need help with something not covered in this thread, please ask in a specific help thread.

My Inventory: Allows you to see all items and spells that you currently own. You can also equip spells, use potions, and create equiptment in this menu (more information about this later).

Quest Log: Quests are mini-adventures that you can access by talking to certain NPC's. This menu shows all active and completed quests, as well as what you need to do to complete them.

My Pet: Pets are "sidekicks" that you can buy and have join your team after a certain quest in the storyline. At first, they will not obey you in battle, but the more you use them, their obedience rating will increase. In this menu, you can organize their stats here. NOTE: Pets cannot equip weapons. Also, although they are capable of recieving skill points, Welding, Alchemy and Taming serve no function for the pet.

Equip Character:

equipcharactercz6.jpg

In this menu, you can equip and unequip weapons and armor. However, there are some important points to keep in mind.

-You can only equip items whose total wieght is equal to less than your Max Wieght. You can calculate your Max Wieght by multiplying your current STR by 10.

-Armor only protects the part of the body that it is equipped on. For example, if you have a Small Helmlet equipped, and a monster attacks your legs, it will not increase your defense.

-By equipping two weapons at the same time, you can attack twice in every turn. This is an especially important strategy to use early on, as it lets you deal twice the normal damage to enemy monsters.

Customize Character:

In this menu, you can increase you Attribute Points and Skill Points with points that you earn every time you level up. Here is a basic guide to your stats:

Attribute Points (temporary, can be added or subtracted at any time):
HP- A person's numerical representation of their vitality. Is drained every time you take damage. Can be restored in battle with potions or spells. Once you lose all of your HP, your character dies.
MP- How much Mana Points you have. Every time you cast a spell, you lose MP. Once you run out, you cannot cast any more spells. This can be restored with certain potions.
STR- Shows how much physical damage you can do. The higher the strength, the more damage.
DEF- Shows how well you can resist damage. The higher the DEF, the less damage an opponents physical attacks will do.
MAG- Increases the effect of magic spells. This not only increases the damage you do, it also increases how much you can heal yourself with protective spells.
MAG DEF-Lowers the amount of damage enemy spells do to you
SPD- Determines the order of attacks in battle. If you have a speed many times greater than your opponent, you can attack multiple times in one round.
DEX- Determines accuracy of attacks. This is basically a counter to EVA.
EVA- Determines how often you dodge attacks. This is basically a counter to DEX.

Skill Points(permenant once used)

Alchemy- A skill showing how well you can fuse potions. Higher Alchemy levels allow you to fuse better potions. Increases automatically when you fuse potions.
Welding- Shows how well you can create equiptment. Higher Welding levels allow you to create better equiptment with better components, and also let you use better enchantments. Increases automatically when you weld items.
Arcane- A skill that determines which spells you can use. Higher Arcane levels allow you to use more advanced spells. Increases automatically when you use spells.
Combat- A skill that determines which Combat Skills you can use. NOTE: This does not affect how much damage physical attacks do in battle. Increases automatically when you use Combat Skills.
Taming- A skill that determines what pets you can buy. Increases automatically when you have pets preform actions in battle.

Battle Requests:

battlepartyim5.jpg

This is the area where you can battle other members from FFF. To do this, simpily select who you want to battle with and click which team you want to invite them to. If they're invited to Team 1, for example, they will be allied with whoever else is in this list. Then, the player who you invited must click "Accept Invitation" which will appear in this menu once you invite them. After you have successfully invited at least 1 member on the opposing team, the buttons "Start Battle", which begins a normal battle, "Start TT Battle", which starts a TT battle for two players only, and "Leave Party", which causes you to leave the battle party, will appear. You cannot be in two battle parties at the same time.

Available Places:

This menu shows which areas you can travel to in the current location. If they are under the title "Inside Area", they include shops and inns, as well as the ability to view current battles. If they are under the title "Outside Area", they include areas you can travel to on the world map.
Certain areas require special travel sevices to travel to. You will encounter bosses and monsters by traveling to specific locations.

Monsters in the Area:

Shows what monsters are in the current area. You can find more information about them by clicking them and pressing "scan", or you can instantly start a battle with them by pressing the Hunt button. If a boss is in this list, this means that it will appear once you travel to a certain area that you haven't visited yet.

Players in the Area:

Shows what players are in the current area. Like monsters, you can find more information about them by clicking them and pressing "scan". You can also invite them to a travel party (not the same as a battle party) by pressing Invite. You can only invite players no more than 10 levels higher or lower than your level.

Party Formation:

Once another player successfully accepts an invitation, they will appear in this menu. If the party leader moves to another area that has monsters, all players in the party will be allied against the enemy monsters. After the battle, the party will be disbanded.

NPCs in the area:

This is where you can talk with non-player characters, or NPCs. You will need to do this in order to progress the story and to get certain items. To do so, simpily select an NPC and select Chat.

Shoutbox:

You can chat with other members by typing a message here and pressing "Shout". Some BBCode works here, too.

Attack: Allows you to use a physical attack. Select who you want to attack, where and with what you want to attack it, choose a combat skill (if any), and then press "Attack".

Magic: Allows you to use magic. Select your target, and the spell you want to use, then select "Cast".

Items: Select a potion you want to use, then select "Use".

Misc.: Here, you can attempt to run from battle.

Battle Music: You can change the current music here.

Battle Logs: Shows the actions of up to the last 6 turns.

Welding Equiptment:

To weld a item, you will need 2 things- a crafting tool and components. Crafting tools can be bought from stores. Components can either be bought or won in battles. Once you decide to weld an item, choose "My Inventory" Then, choose the item you want to craft and press "craft". You will have to select a number of components equal to the components required for the item you want to make. You will also have to name it. Once you are ready, press "Craft Item".

Banks and Gil:

In certain areas, there is a special building known as a bank. You can put Gil, the game's currency, in these areas. You will have to open an account at them first. When you put money in these buildings, you will keep them even if you lose a battle. You will also gain interest if you keep money there.

Potions:

In "My Inventory", there is also an option called "Potions". By viewing this, you can use potions outside of battle, as well as fuse potions, which means you can combine the effects of two potions into a new one. You lose the original potions when you do this. You will need high Alchemy stats to fuse certain Potions. You can hold up to a maximum of 6.

Spells/
Combat Skills:

In "My Inventory", there are options called "Spells" and "Combat Skills". Here, you can equip spells that you want to use in battle. Combat Skill can also be equipped, but like pets, they take a while to master. However, they do not use MP, which makes them advantageous to use in battle.

Enchantments:

Along your quest, you may get special items called Enchantments. You can use them at special buildings called "Alters" to make your weapons more powerful. You can only enchant a weapon as long as it has enough enchant points to hold the enchantment you are trying to use.

Hints:

-Before fighting the Lizardman, be sure to train to level 3 and have 15 STR and 15 DEF. Also, having the max amount of potions will help.
-In order for armor to be effective, you will need to have every area of your body equipped with it. Do this early on to make your life easier later.
-Talk to all the NPC's you can. You may get special information that will help you in your quest.
-Train with another player to level up before a particularly difficult boss.
-Don't divide your defensive stats between EVA and DEF. Instead, put all of them in one or the other.
-Don't increase your HP or MP until you are at least level 10.
-Don't complain about one of the bots being too tough. Believe me, you will fail. :P
