Tidus always blushed when light turned up. He had admired the stronger male for quite some time, watching him fight was like watching a highly choreographed dance, Light was so graceful on the battlefield and off it. Tidus had been to many formal occasions at which he had shied away from the dancefloor to watch his beloved dance alone. He did his best to avoid him so that his feelings wouldn't affect his everyday life, knowing that if he were to run into light while carrying anything he would drop it after going weak at the knees from lights gaze.
All the while Light had watched him, not that the younger blond knew this, Saw how Tidus would blush and shy away from him, at first he thought it was because he knew that Light fancied him, after ruling this out he began to think that Tidus hated him, it was rather depressing for the usually jovial youth to think that the one he loved disliked him so much. So he tried his best to make the other like him. He interacted with the younger boy as much as possible, and over time a slightly less awkward friendship blossomed.
But still this wasn't enough for light, and secretly it wasn't enough for Tidus who despite his shyness was quickly falling in love with his friend, but he still wouldn't admit it. So light, never being one for waiting for anything that he wanted then and there decided one night to confess his feelings and chance having his heart broken, at least then he would know if this was more than friendship growing between them.
They met up in the usual spot by the park, it was sunny so they sat on a bench in the shade of a great oak tree. Light sat silently while Tidus attempted to make nervous small talk, this was the first time the two had been totally alone together and it was awkward as there was nothing to stop the thoughts going through either persons head. nothing stopping them from becoming reality. except their imaginary dislike from the other person.
Eventually Light could hold it in no longer and turned to Tidus, fire in his eyes as he said the words that had been dangling from his tongue for such a long time. "Tidus, i... i love you" With that said and being unable to take it back, light immediately began chastising himself for possibly ruining his friendship completely "....oh" came Tidus' reply. Tears formed in Lights eyes "Oh? is that really all you can say?" he said this not in an aggressive way but in a way that sounded completely defeated and hopeless.
Tidus looked back into those hurt, desperate eyes and realization clicked in the older boys head "You want to say something to me?" He questioned, daring to hold his breath and tears back from the brink "Light, were friends and everything right?" Tidus began, Lights heart sank, Tidus continued "But for quite a while now i've been in love with someone" Again Lights heart sank further into despair. "Oh?" he said "Who?" Tidus looked into Lights eyes and mouthed the word "You" before kissing the other boy
