And then recovered windows, when it loads it just says partition not found GRUB rescue_>

The disks have been taken down everywhere by microsoft, any ideas how I can legitimately get one or any other ideas?

I have found something that may help me, if it fails I will try that. I am not sure how that would let me make a copy of the recovery disc though.

edit: That costs money to use properly I see, if I end up having to spend money there is a site I can purchase recovery discs from that has microsoft consent I believe. Thanks though

I'm vaguely surprised there haven't been any serious responses, yet.

1. Depends on what OS you need a disc for. :hmm:
2. Not familiar with that error. I know GRUB stands for GRand Unified Bootloader and is typically found in linux or open source distros. Unless you're dual boot or running multi OS in a virtual setting, its difficult to imagine triggering GRUB errors by recovering windows. Anyways, google your error = good idea.
3. More info such as whether your system is dual boot, what OS & such can be invaluable also.
4. If you're dual booting via grub that changes things. If you tried to recover windows you may've just destroyed / overwritten your mbr. In which case a recovery disc may not fix it. Not 100% certain there.
5. Whatever I'm forgetting. :hmm:

Anyways, no worries, I'm sure you'll get it fixed...
