Hey guys!! I made an account because I wanted to brainstorm with some people. I'm trying to create a sort of flow chart of all of the major classes that exist throughout different Final Fantasy installments that works in a way similar to the job system in Tactics and War of the Lions. I'm having trouble with some stuff. It's going to be for personal use. My friends and I play tabletop RPGs and we're gonna go for a Final Fantasy spin. I want to make an extremely extensive class system! This is my idea so far:
Starting Classes:
Warrior
Thief
White Mage
Black Mage
(Harkens to the original FF)
From their, you can switch between and level different classes to gain access to new ones. I haven't worked out a numerical level value for that yet, I just want something that makes sense with the classes. So for example:
At level __ a Warrior can access the Monk class. Alternatively, it can go down the Fighter (FFT) line or the Knight line. A monk can become a White Monk (FFT) if they're also level __ in the White Mage class. Or, a Monk can become a Master Monk at level __.
It might look like this:
-----: Levels into
/-----Fighter----------Samurai
Warrior|-----------Knight---------------------------------\
\-----Monk------------Master Monk \
\-----White Monk w/White Mage \
\-----Geomancer | Dark Knight
/
/-----Hunter/Archer--------Gunner /
Thief|------------Ninja-------------------------------------/
\-----Fencer----------?(maybe Elementalist?)
/-----Bard----------Dancer-------------------------Mime
White Mage|----------Seer----------------------------------------/----------------\
\-----?(Conjurer? Scholar?)----------? / \
/ | Sage
/ /
/-----Time Mage/Illusionist----------Illusionist/Time Mage /
Black Mage|----------Magus-------------------------------------------------------/
\-----Arcanist----------Necromancer
White Mage + Black Mage = Green Mage--------?(Animist or Beastmaster or Blue Mage?)
Warrior + Thief = Lancer----------Dragoon
Warrior + Thief + WM + BM = Red Mage----------Red Wizard
Elementalist + Beastmaster(?) = Summoner
Thief + Illusionist = Trickster
ETC ETC ETC on and on and on until most of the classes fit into a coherent structure. That being said, theres a lot that fit in oddly or not at all. I have the ability to change lore and abilities behind stuff. I could say that Alchemist/Chemist come from White Mages who have focused more on manual healing. Berserker is a bare-handed class that comes from Monk. Or, its in-between Monk and Master Monk. Maybe Elementalist is the result of someone learning Fencing and Geomancy, or Fencing and Red Magic. Animist and Beastmaster are similar, maybe drop one. Or, make Animist the precursor to the Beastmaster class.
Does anyone have ideas? I think its possible to make a coherent system that allows one to use all of the classes of Final Fantasy. (Minus ones like Viking, who are just an older version of Berserker).
Heres the most complete list of Final Fantasy jobs I can find:
Alchemist
Animist
Arcanist
Archer
Assassin
Bard
Beastmaster
Berserker
Bishop
Black Mage
Blue Mage
Canonneer
Chemist
Conjurer
Dancer
Dark Knight
Defender
Dragoon
Elementalist
Evoker
Fencer
Fighter
Flintlock
Freelancer
Fusilier
Gambler
Geomancer
Gladiator
Green Mage
Gunner
Hunter
Illusionist
Juggler
Knight
Lancer
Lanista
Machinist
Magus (Black Wizard)
Master Monk
Maurader
Mime
Monk
Necromancer
Ninja
Onion Knight
Paladin
Parivir
Pirate/Sky Pirate
Pugilist
Ranger
Raptor
Ravager
Red Mage
Red Wizard
Rogue
Sage
Samurai
Scholar
Seer (White Wizard)
Soldier
Spell Blade
Sniper
Summoner
Templar
Thaumaturge
Thief
Time Mage
Tinker
Trickster
Viking
Warrior
White Mage
White Monk
Thats as many as I can think of. Some are basically the same thing and can be dropped. Paladin/Knight, Fusilier/Flintlock/Gunner/Machinist, Chemist/Alchemist, etc etc.
Any thoughts on what should go where? My brain hurts.
*Edit*- Posting it messed up the formatting of the mini-chart and aligned it all to the left. It still kinda makes sense though. Use your imagination
