Mixed feelings, I do like the turn battle system, but like many others said, you get through the game faster and it feels more like a battle than just sitting around and waiting. Or maybe I just like button mashing.

I like the turn based style, for example, FFX, it showed you who's turn it was then who's turn it was going to be for like the next 10 turns. But then in X-2 they completely blew that out the window. For turn based, you have time to actually plan what you want to do, while in active, you could be getting attacked every couple of seconds and then make a hasty decision that wasn't really what you wanted to do and ended up in you losing.

I like the Active Time system used in most of the old games. I don't think this genre is meant to be action-oriented. Taking your time is part of the appeal of the gameplay, and trying to change that is trying to appeal to fans of other genres. I think Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic did this better than anyone else so far, allowing you to choose between letting your characters fight automatically or being pedantic. You didn't have to pay attention to every first-level noob monster your 60th level certified toughmonkey came across. In the Final Fantasy games, X has the best system, being Active Time and looking action-oriented. If you go just turn-based like the first one, speed loses some of its reality, and reactions become unrealistic.

......UMMMM

Well final fantasy has been through a lot of different fighting styles. Not just final fantasy but kingdom hearts too. Look at the original style of turn based. it gave you time to think and stratagize. Which made some players who wanted more let down. The new fighting style of 3d action, this is all new amazing features. It gives players a new perspective view of the game but stratigests prefered the oldr ones. I think that there should be a game where both styles are choosable. For example in final fantasy 15 lets say there was two disks, One with turn based attacks or battle sequences and the other with speed 3d acton. But with the same story. This would allow stratigests and crazy non tactical but offencive players to have a choice And not miss any of the story at all! I AM BOTH. I love stratigizing and also a good 3d fight now and again.:P

The taking in turn system thing. >_>
Mainly because I like to eat while I'm playing and with the other system I gotta pause it and shit, But I do like the fighting system in XII because you can turn the wait thing on and off so its like you get the best of both worlds.
