Help FFXIII: Using Libra

How come when I use Libra I don't have anything happen? I thought it was supposed to give me information but literally nothing happens.....

If you press R1 (or it might be L1, one of them lol) then the results will show up on screen

It's R1, however it does not always automatically fill all the information in, if you continue to fight an enemy and hit it with different spells as well as physical attacks it will eventually completely fill in the enemy's data sheet.

Yeah use the R1 button to view the enemy. Think you can unlock an achivement by scanning 100 enemies with said action.
