Help FFXIII-2: Stuck between Archylte Steppe ??? AF and Sunleth Waterscape, 300 AF

Well stuck again and need some help. My brother beat the boss Faeryl and got the Black Hole Gem but when he returned to the Sunleth Waterscape, the Royal Ripness was still the same. He tried getting the White Hole Gem from the Colisuem but they didn't give anything. What should he do? I looked at different sites, but they say different things. How do you get the Royal Ripeness to change into the Mutantomato? Sites are being awfully confusing. >.<

And the way he unlocked the Coliseum was that he bought one of the things from the Downloadable Content section.

Don't enter the coliseum from the node at the left. Enter the coliseum node that is directly to the right of Sunleth Waterscape.
