Apparently FFXI is running a 2 week free trial. You visit their website, join up for... FilePlanet... I think it was... and then download the basic game. I'm not sure if you have to pay for FilePlanet or not... but if you have it and haven't played FFXI, this is a good chance to at least try it out.

And if you do have FilePlanet, try and make it available for some other people on the forums here if they haven't tried the game.

I've already played it and have no interest in getting back into it... but I know there are a bunch of people on here who have never even played it at all. It'd be good for them to at least say they've tried it.

i did not lik this game i downloaded the free trial (took for-ev-ver) and i had no clue wat to do, i went out to kill sumthin and barely killed it (had 1 HP left) it jus wasnt my cup of tea

lol the trial isn't even the basic game. You probably level from 1-10 (and probably not even get to 10 before you decide to quit).

10+ You need a party to gain levels and that is much of what the game is all about from 10-75. XD

You can say you tried it but you still don't know much of anything about it, essentially.

I made the topic for this about 2-3 months ago and added the link. I'll have to dig it up. You don't get the expansions, but you can still get up to level 30.

is it good,i have played the mmo for the 360,i forget what its called, its good, but not worth paying 12.99 a month, although im sure the price has dropped since then

Not sure what MMO you are talking about on 360, as Final Fantasy XI is the only one I know if. But it is still 12.99 per month. That price won't change, but the price to buy the CD's has become cheaper.

It is very good, but very late into its life and not as entertaining to get into now. Since you are half a decade behind most the other players. But you can ask / read more in the top stickied topic titled , "Worth Getting?"

Nah, it's not a matter of "Worth Getting" or not. This thread has nothing to do with that. It's just an opportunity for some gamers who KNOW they're never going to play an MMO to trial the game, simply because it's the only numbered game in the series they may never have the opportunity to play.

Realistically, I never met anyone who got so into it that by the end of 2 weeks they got level 30. Usually players start of VERY, VERY (painfully) slow. But still, level 30 is slightly starting to dip into the game.

Back when I played it was an extra dollar a month for additional characters. I wonder if you still pay... It was kinda cheap (and not the good kind) though because you NEEDED additional characters for inventory space since the inventory system was so poor.

I just think that a two week trial suits WoW more than FFXI. XD

I had been responding to the question directly above me.

Happens quite often, especially now days. You have more then enough time to get to 30 and see how you like it because a whole new world opens at 30. Yeah, players used to start off rather slow but they have changed the game so drastically that even a casual gamer can make 75 in a month.

Yeah, the space used to suck so I used to have three characters. But they have changed this drastically as well. And the only way you should have space trouble is if you are level 75 on every job and want to keep armor for every one.

You should see when you install the full game and all its glory. Will take all night, might as well leave it on and go to work or go to sleep.

Oh my gosh. o_o ...I've been totally out of it for a long time then. XD Back in the day having 3 75s MEANT something!

D: I can't believe it. I guess they took some hints from WoW. x_x I feel so old school now. :awesome:

The game is a lot bit more complex than your basic WoW gameplay, which i think turns a lot of people off. I still enjoy playing it im on Cait if anyone cares. Nilladar is my name. I find it fun.

Xfire me. nilladar
