Right then, basically I'm at the end of the storyline (have done Zanarkand and just have Sin left). It's the second time I've got this far, but I'm struck by the same problem as last time - how do I take the next step to the break damage/HP limit stuff? I'd like to have a bash at the optional stuff (Dark Aeons and Arena stuff springs to mind) but after accidentally running into Dark Valefor and getting subsequently hammered, I'm at a loss as to how to take the first step. I've been playing around in Omega Dungeon for about five hours with the Ascalon, but I'm getting a bit tired of the "Make Tidus a one-man wrecking machine" game. So a few questions:

1) What's the easiest way to acquire said items? And if anyone says Celestials bear in mind that I might cry.
2) What customisations are good to get and what's the fastest way of getting them?

Cheers!

Well you get a lot of good items from collecting 10 of every monster in every region. By the time you do that you should have most of the battle arena unlocked. After that you can look up a guide on who drops what. I think its wings of discovery and Dark Matter you are looking for. I could be wrong and all the words maybe different. I've never played PAL. Anyways if thats not an option then maybe you should look into bribing enemies.

You can customise weapons to be equal to the celestials however that takes much much longer than getting the celstials. You just have to grit your teeth and get on with it, they seem daunting at first but collecting them isn't too bad.

The ideal team is Auron, Wakka, and Tidus say, max them and their weapons out totally. Wakka's Attack reels is a necessity for the Dartka Aeons as it has the potential to hit 99'999 x 12 damage. Also have Auron and Tidus learn entrust this allows them to give their overdrive gauges to Wakka.

After that just go on maxing stats (don't bother with MP or magic, it becomes pointless and wastes important grid time and space). Tidus and Auron should just batter away at the Aeons, and sub there overdrive to Wakka when full. Also Auto-Phoenix and Auto-haste armours are VITAL! The only other strategy you need now is that whenever a super bosses (i.e. Dark Aeon level) has a full overdrive gauge, swap the character just before that attack out for Yuna and have her summon an Aeon to take the hit.

That's the basic strategies and steps you need to take in order to get started
