Noooz.com has an old article stating that you can download a bunch of crap and view models from Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. They link to a forum where people have downloaded it and successfully viewed the models in the program. I'd like to have this on my computer. Not only because VG character models interest me... but if I ever need to know what Tidus's kneecap looks like for any of our discussions, I'd like to be able to zoom in and know. So can anyone go and successfully do this for me... and once you have, walk me through the steps. I'll give you Rhea as a gift upon your success.

Ha. They are all nude in this creation.

xD.

Just kidding.

There is a read me file upon DLing. You don't need steps. They're all there.

Oh I read them... but I need them in idiotese, please. I'm so bad at this crap. It said something about using software to install a .ISO backup file.. and then to take those .ISO files and put them into DOS... I don't know where I am right now? Is this New Jersey? Hell? It's all the same I guess... Which way is up?

No, it said make a backup of the models (The game CD) into a .ISO.

Here's how: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=245

Goto: [START] > [RUN], and type "CMD" no quotes. to open a DOS Box and drag&drop "ffxdumper.exe" into the dos box. Press [SPACE BAR] and drag&drop the FFX/2 ISO into the same DOS BOX, Press [ENTER]
(Extracted *.ffb files should be in the into the “Documents and Settings\Admin folder” on your hard drive)
If you wish "FFXView.exe" may be used to veiw the extracted *.ffb files in 3D. Do so by draging ing the "FFXView.exe" file into a DOS box, -space- then drag the *.FFB model file you want to see (Viewer also displays poses, and animations although I haven't figured out how)
From there, you pretty much drag and drop into your comp's hard-drive so it can read it. (DOS drop in section). Seen above. All will be in your main folder since you saved it all to the main hard-drive.

To Import files into a 3D editing Program such as 3D Max, 1st install the OBJ-2-MAX plugin "Obj2Max6.zip" After which simply [double click] on the app "ffx2obj.exe" and then just easily drag&drop any FFB file in. if done currently, both tga and obj files should now be in the same folder as "ffx2obj.exe"or check your “Documents and Settings\Admin folder”
Once you have a modeling device, install the FFB in the main folder so it can read the FF Characters.

Now just use your intended application to import the OBJ files, then you should be able to edit, or render, stare at em whatever
The files created from the previous step. Open up the OBJ'S and you should have the models.

That made no sense to me. Can you take screenshots or something? Do I need FFX for the PC? Can't I just download the models or something? What are the .iso thingers? Where are they living?

I don't have a website for the models. You can probably search them.

xD. You have so never done this before....

Simplistic explanation: Get an FFX .ISO by searching the web.

Step 2: Type "DOS" in your start----> run.

Step 3: Drag and drop "ffxdumper.exe" into the dos box. Press [SPACE BAR]. Then drag and drop FFX/2 ISO into the same box.

Step 4: Check Documents and Settings/Admin for .FFB files

Step 5: Type "DOS" in the run section again. Drag and drop FFXView.exe then press space. Then drag the *.FFB model file you want to see.

Step 6: Open a 3D modeling program. Install Obj2Max6.zip into the program. After which simply [double click] on the app "ffx2obj.exe" and then just easily drag&drop any FFB file in. The one you want to see. (tga and obj files should now be in the same folder as "ffx2obj.exe"or check your “Documents and Settings\Admin folder”)

Step 7:Now just use your intended application to import the OBJ files, then you should be able to edit, or render, stare at em whatever.(Open the OBJ files with the program.)

I hope that makes it simple. @_@ If not, well, stop trying. xD.

So the .ISO is the model that I'm trying to view, right? And the Dumper thingie is like a box or something... so if I"m trying to look at the .ISO model of a kitten then I put the kitten in the box... and then I use the .FFB or something... which is like a hammer to break the kitty up into little pieces or something. God I'm so lost. I think I'm going to go put a kitty in a box and hit it with a hammer until I understand this concept better...

The .exe files come with your downloaded file from the website your gave. (Second one)

The .ISO is what you're trying to view, in a wide view. It's really bits of the .ISO; the characters.

The explanation I gave is the simplest I can. @_@. It shouldn't be that hard. Just follow the steps with the files. You can tell the difference between files by the end. ".exe" ".iso" Etc.

This Thread hurts my brain >_< I think I need a lie down  AT, try finding a different set of instruction in "idiotese" on Google or Wikipedia
