Ignoring the cheesy, uber drama title. Being incredibly confused with all the FFVII plotholes, I googled around for some information and found a really good FFVII place. Lots of information all around and lots of articles. One of them particularly caught my interest, which was about a connection between FFVII and FFX. My initial reaction was a mix of a scoff and laughter, but after reading this article, I found the topic to be very interesting. I recommend people give it a read, it might surprise you.

It mostly focuses on the CHARACTER Shinra, in FFX-2 and how he mentions a possibility of using spirit energy from the Farplane as energy, though it wouldn't be possible in their generation. Apparently in FFX-2 International + Last Mission,
Shinra leaves the Gullwings and gets a huge financial backing with Rin to begin turning spirit energy from the Farplane into usable energy.
It's made a bit more interesting just with Shinra's name, obviously the same as the company. So there's that possibility that his future generations named the company after the genius who came up with the hypothesis. There's also some minor similarities between the airships in FFX and the Sierra from FFVII: AC, and DoC. It seems to have some sphere object on the bridge, similar from FFX, it was also mentioned that the airship used some ancient technology.

That's just one thought from the whole thing. I'll let you guys read and see what you think. Hogwash or possible? Either way I find it intriguing.

I will say that theory makes sense, and to be honest, its not the only time Square Enix has tried to tie two separate games together. A scene in the DS remake of Final Fantasy IV makes a reference to his father Richard Highwind who died fighting an evil empire.

For those who don't know, Richard Highwind was the playable dragoon in Final Fantasy II. The DOS remake goes to the point of naming his son Kain, and Richard ends up dying when he fights Emperor Mateus.

Now, the question arises whether the two storylines could even exist. The only place IV and II share is the mage village of Mysdia. Of course, since the emperor devastate the world in II and many kingdoms were destroyed, than its possible new ones arose to take their place. Either that, or II took place in a section of the world that was removed from the events of IV(II’s overworld is smaller than many of the other games in the series.)

The reason I bring this up is because it makes the ties between VII, X, and X-2 a lot more plausible. I read the article, and the ties make sense when you read everything. I know names and phrases are often reused in the series, but I doubt that something as important as Shinra would be tossed around so casually.

When you have staff alluding to the ties between the games, then there is some validity to the claims.

Its almost like the Richard Highwind connections between II and IV. The DS remake goes out of its way to refer to Richard and the fact that he died fighting an empire. Since IV lacked any signs of an empire, and none of the kingdoms within the game can claim to be descended from the empire or any of the Kingdoms of II, than its possible that II and IV’s world are the same, but both games simply took place in different sections of the world. Since II did not feature a story that revolved around crystals, then that might explain why it was never seen in IV.

The same could exist between VII, X, and X-2.
