Hey to all the people who took the time to read this post :). Okay, recently i just bought the ff9 game, then as i do with all the other games i surfed on the net to find tips and solutions to complete the game at 100%. I was shocked to learn that it is apparently IMPOSSIBLE to complete the PAL version of this game

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197338/41181

and still get all the key items, mission etc. Unfortuanatly stuff like frame rate spoiled it for us european players. So now i am in the midst of buying a Action Replay device so i can cheat the time bar and stll achieve a perfect game.

YET I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT DOES, OR HOW IM SUPPOSED TO WORK IT!!!!

So currently ive been looking at one device on our resident online auction site:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Gaming/PlayStation/Accessories/Other/auction-281585598.htm

So heres the stats: i currently use a Chunky ps2 (not slimline). I live in new zealand and both the ps2 and ff9 discs are the european version (PAL)

Questions: is the pro action replay stated above enough to change the time mechanism in the game? will it work on a chunky ps2? is there a different version that i need? do i need a ps1 to connect the cartridge?

LOL so many questions. I would appreciate any help from anyone who has used this before. AND many thanks in advance :)

1. No, because I don't think that's compatible with the ps2 if it's main use for was the psx/ps1. I could be wrong because I haven't worked with Pro action replays with Psx's but by looking at the product......I hope you didn't buy it.

2. Most likely not, It's better to use a Disk based cheating device because it's safer and faster (cheaper).

3. Yeah you might need a lower version of game shark/action replay/codebreaker to work on the fat ps2.

4. I've never heard of doing such an act as connecting a ps1 to a ps2 to a Pro action replay, it sounds stupid like the Sega Genesis and 32x.

I'm not very well acquainted with pal systems. However, when it comes to cheating a ps1 game on a fat ps2 (which I'm not a big fan of because the laser tends not to read most blue disks which game sharks/code breakers are), I've always found it hard because I usually end up using a disk and memory stick card based game shark. The "game shark 2" usually comes with a separate disk which allows you to access ps1 games for cheating provided that you have an old cheat memory card built mainly for the ps1 (sadly they don't make the disks anymore nor the card).

I suggest you go look for a game shark 2, an older model which provides you with a Pal PSX Game Shark Disk and memory card (if not, buy them separate). If I'm wrong, then my 10 years of game sharking has gone to waste. And if you can't do anything else....since you have the game you can play it using EpsxE 1.7 using PEC to cheat to your desires (it's not pirating if you have the game :P).
