FF1 Views and Ninty Tribute!

I imported this for the PSP from America and it's my first time properly going through FF1 and it reminds me of old school Final Fantasy. Non of this crappy fighting system, it's all turn based, how it should be. The game is FANTASTIC.


This MIGHT be a small spoiler for those who haven't played it, so i'll black it out, but check this:

In Elfheim there is a tribute to Zelda if you stand by the gravestone and press X. I took a pic of it for you all:

Oh yeah, I seen that also.
There was also a Zelda cartoon quote in Phoenix Wright Ace Attonery.
 
That tribute is well known, I think there's a Thread about it somewhere in this Section that I made. It was originally used to poke fun at Dragon Quest right? by saying "Here lies Elrich" or whatever his name was :P
 
it is a nice little easter-egg, i think FFI wanted to praise another legendary game, since it was also out on the NES when it was released it would have been fitting to praise Link.
 
I thoroughly disagree, it could be mispercieved as an insulting gesture toward Link and/or the LoZ games but I think it's meant as tribute, nothing more, nothing less
 
I'm pretty sure it was a tribute. I don't think it was saying "death to all Zelda games" because at that time only one maybe two Zelda games were even out.

And FF1 was made because the company thought they were going out of business and this game basically saved them.

That's right. Square would have gone bankrupt if this game failed. That is why it was titled Final Fantasy haha. Square couldn't have been bashing LoZ because for one, Square was nothing. Two: Zelda probably didn't have too many titles out either.

I think we all know that Final Fantasy destroys Zelda anyways :D.

Wrong. Nobody on Square's team would be that immature. It's a tribute to another NES great.

Again, wrong. The Zelda games are amazing, and they're a different type of game than FF so you cant rightly compare them.

ZOMG!! FFI takes place in Hyrule, lol!!!! :P

No, but seriously, I think it's a nice tribute. I love both series so I like when easter eggs like this pop up. I don't think FF destroys Zelda. Both series are totally and completely different (they're not even the same genre) and have different settings, so it's unfair to compair them.
 
Maybe it was a shot at Nintendo as a 'Zelda Killer', since FF1 (original) came out in N.A. 4 years after Zelda was this in the original version too?
 
yes but it said somthing different then but i do think its a dis to zelda saying as link is new and not sure but i think the original said here lies elrich from dragon quest not sure on the name i never playd dragon quest
