So whenever I cast magic, the enemies move out of the range, which leads be to believe that magic is entirely worthless. Of course I have no idea what exactly I'm doing in this game.

Is magic effective or a waste of time?

Also I just wanted to know what classes I should learn abilities from. I maxed out the monk job class. But Im not really sure how I should go about building a strong party.

Magic is pretty effective in this game; you can only go so far with physical attacks.

You can target a specific enemy when you cast a spell on them, and not just an area, so even if they move, it'll still hit them.

However, it can screw you over in which the same enemy will move to one of your party members, and they will be hit with the spell too; I think most FFT spells are multi-target anyways >_<

Whenever I played FFT, I try to have a balanced party; usually three fighters and two magic users of some sort.

The last time I played I had Ramza as a Lancer and another Lancer, a Black Mage, a Summoner with White Magic, and a monk; it worked out well enough for me.

Although I don't level up enough Jobs to open the new ones, so I keep using the same jobs over and over >_>

You just have to pay attention to when the character you're targeting gets its turn. It's no use casting a spell that's going to take 3 turns to cast if you're targeting something that gets to go in 2 turns. It's TACTICS...think tactically.

Also, with Magic, more Faith=more power.
