hi everyone

this qn is not specific to any of the ff games. i'm just askin in general

ok im one of those guys who just refuse to use walkthrus and guides, but becos of that, i nvr 100% any of my ff games...

and knowing tt, i still refuse to use them, haha. so i was wondering if u ppl have any tips as to how all the elusive sidequests can be found or stumbled upon? Do i have to speak to everyone and anyone i see? Do i have to backtrack everytime i reach a new place to see if anything new pop out in the old place?

I'm on ffx now and like all my other games, i bring my characters to every single metre square of the field lest theres a treasure chest/ cactuar stone/ whatever
and still i know theres tons of sidequests i didnt manage to "stumble upon" such as the dark aeons

so is there any advice as to how i can cont to NOT use walkthrus and guides but manage to find the sidequests? I realise they are all super elusive...

You won't stumble upon the Dark Aeons til much later, and beleive me, you will stumbkle upon them -_-

Its hard to generalise every FF game, some sidequests/gettin g some items are impossible to get without the guide, you would NEVER get the Zodiack Spear in XII without it, you couldnt even manage it by fluek, i t's just ridiculous...

Erm, getting the celestial weapons for each character should just involve you backtracking later with the use of the airship and talking to everyone

One thing I will say though
when you beat Yunalesca, make sure you go back to the room you defeated her and open the chest at the back of the room, if you try to go back later, you WILL get a nasty surprise, believe me, I KNOW THIS -_-

I think alot of X's stuff is easy enough to figure out with abit of persistence, it's just....missing things and not being able to go back and grab them later due to certain 'obstacles' *see spoiler, or not, if you don't wanna give anything away for yourself*

I just beleive, there are always gunna be certain things you will ALWAYS miss without the guide.

My advice

Usally you can talk to everyone during story line, then wait until the final dungeon to go back to all towns and also places you haven't been. Most side quest open when the final dungeon does.

^Most but not all, and thats part of the problem, if you miss Lucrecias Cave on Disk 2, then you are snookered if you find it on Disk 3, you won't get Vincents ultimate Shit, it's random little things that you are likely to miss out on - not so much the bigger things, like optional bosses

And I definately think XII is impossib le to 100% without the guide, there's just some headscratching moments that make you think...wat?

Ya pretty much without the guide, you would need to backtrack after every monumental thing that happens in the storyline, i have had to do this several times..... I finally used the guide and got nearly all of the side quests done in FFX, and believe me there are a lot of them.

Like to get the Celestial weapons you have to do a random bunch of random things..
And to get the crests and sigils, you have to do a bunch of other more difficult random things.

^^^Just a few examples, helluva lot more XP
