Fabula Nova Crystallis

alright, so, im pretty sure all of us know that the thirteenth installment of the Final Fantasy series will be coming in, so far confirmed, three seperate games. this forms Fabula Nova Crystallis. Roughly translating into "The New Tale of the Crystals". well, i was just wondering... was this such a good idea?

so far, the titles revealed are:

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)
Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Mobile)

So, that makes two for PS3, and one for mobile.

Thinking about this new compilation, i dont think its such a good idea...

Dont get me wrong or anything... two Final Fantasy games being released on the same console and without the wait is a dream, but, quality over quantity... correct? (I dont really play games on mobile, by the way...)

Looking back... Final Fantasy VII is also a compilation, a very successful one... so why am i worried about Fabula Nova Crystallis?

The main reason is that the Final Fantasy VII compilation became what it is over time, while Fabula Nova Crystallis will be created with three games from the start. Maybe Square Enix is rushing a little bit?

Hopefully, the two PS3 releases will have enough time between them, so i can enjoy them fully, because lets face it, none of us want to spend thirty minutes everyday deciding which game to play.

Alright, guess im done here, tell me what you think about the whole idea about Fabula Nova Crystallis.

Heres a little updat for those who dont know:
Final Fantasy XIII - 3% Complete
Final Fantasy Versus XIII - 1% Complete

*The numbers actually went down, they said they were done 13% and 1.3%. that means, theres still alot of time left, so keep your pants on and keep owning in Final Fantasy XII, which is awesome by the way.

Your posts mirrored my first thoughts exactly. When we first started hearing about the Compilation of FFVII, I thought, "They're trying to rip off nostalgic fans, but I can't do anything about it, because I'm one of them." Now they're starting off with the Fabula Nova Crystallis trilogy. I'm wondering if FFXIII will produce the same kind of magic attachment among fans to justify this.

Im guessing Versus XIII, will be something like more action, less RPG.
And Agito is for mobile.
Mirrors VII, Dirge of Cerberus and lost episode, and the other FFVII mobile game, not snowboarding

Before Crisis?

I just think they should wait on the reception of XIII before making it a compilation. I mean, is every Final Fantasy going to have its own compilation from now on? Doesn't that take away from each game's uniqueness?

Tottally agree Cecily. I liked FF better before they started making sequels for every title. On the other hand, I am looking forward to both titles. I love the basic RPG classics that are the FF continuum, but when KH2 came out I realized I liked the Action/RPG genre even better, so it will be great to have a KH style FF game, as well as a regular FF installment. Plus, this is PS3! PS3 woo!

haha, yeah, releasing more Final Fantasy titles, or adding games to make a compilation, will have a major effect on the uniqueness of the series...

i hope it doesnt come to the point where we end up saying, "oh, its just another addition to the compilation." that would be the worst, having a whole bunch of crappy additions that were hastily made...
but im sure Square Enix wouldnt do that, they know what theyre doing.
they know that we arent just buying their games because they slapped the words "Final Fantasy" on it, but because theyre good.
