I'd have to say good, myself. 3 main reasons.

I have a DS, yes I know it's shallow, but I can't afford a PS3.
NOT an action game like originally intended.
It will make a profit, making square richer, meaning higher quality games.

Also, It's Dragon Quest, so I'll probably like it. And the 35$ you'd pay would be really reasonable. And that's just at release.

I think I'd rather see it on a console tbh, I much prefer 'smaller' games on handhelds, spin offs and what not

After VIII being on the PS2 and being totally epic, number IX on the DS would probably just be poor I think

Bambi summed my feelings up nicely with that post. With the next generation of consoles available, I think it's disappointing that DQIX is releasing on the DS.

I agree it would have more potential as a console game, but FFVI and the like are on lesser systems, and yet are greater than games on consoles 4 times more powerful.

True.

Watched the trailer for the game on Youtube. It looks better than I had anticipated...judging by the video alone. It's not a turn-based RPG?

But the likes of FFVI are older games so therefore have smaller worlds and less to do in general, they were just remade. What are the game play hours likely to be?

I'm not sure how I feel about this :gasp:

Does it have a release date, yet?

Anyone else feel totally jipped that NA didn't get DQIV DS? It looked pretty cool, to me...plus, I loved the original DQIV! V_V

All the good RPG series seem to abandon the turn-based battles. But it does sound awsome. I need to get a new DS. DQVIII was great, despite the annoying battle theme. DQMJ was okay. I'm curious to see how much they will be able to do with it.

I think i heard somewhere they didn't have the heart to make it action.

Also, as far as hours go I'd say mid 40s to someone who's played some Dragon Quest. Definantly not DQ8's 100 hours, but that's kind of a good thing for some people. >.>

It really is looking really really good! As much as I have been enjoying Square and other companies' spin-offs and remakes, it is really good to see them make something as ambitious as this for the DS. Definitely a must-have in my book.

Ugh...

Hopefully DQIX will have more than two stinkin' fight themes. I had to get out my MP3 player after awhile while playing DQVIII because I couldn't stand listening to that same crappy theme for hours on end...

You'd have heard right if you look below. I think that the turn based system is only not used for the multi-player.

This is one of my most wants. It won't have the same epic scale, feel or look as VIII but as long as it still has the old-school gameplay then I can take it. Anyway I wouldn't mind seeing more JRPGs on the console.
