The difference bewteen the expert sphere grid and the standard one is that in the expert one, you have a lot more flexibility to move your characters. For example, you could make Tidus become a white mage to begin with where as in the standard one, he has a set path full of agility. It also takes a bit longer to learn abilitites on the expert sphere grid, but that's it.

im on the expert sphere grid and its good 2 me my wakka has all the good magic tho when his mage is low like he has double cast all the firaga and stuff, holy bio demi regen full life but then my lulu only has fira and bio and a few more nuby spells
