So I've been playing Deus Ex recently, and it saddens me to think there haven't been many games quite like this since it was released. If there is any game that can be called a true RPG, it's Deus Ex; it isn't "lol do whatever the fuck you want," but it isn't "lol railroading" either. The choice and consequence is heavily apparent, and the amount of player innovation is there, too (The game doesn't tell you to "do exactly as I say," nor does the game tell you to "do whatever you want;" it presents problems that need to be solved and goals that need to be achieved and allows the player the solve them in a way that he or she sees fit. On this playthrough, I haven't killed a single enemy yet, for example). It's true role-playing at its finest, and that's without mentioning that it has one of the most layered, complex and generally smart plots in video game history.

I can only hope Human Revolution is half as good as the original is.

I've played this game for the first time 3 months ago. And to have a played a game that's 10 years old, and be an experience like no other is one fucking accomplishment. I chuckle when people call it an FPS. The only ranged weapon I've ever used is the Sniper, and occasionally the pistol. The game is a combination of excellent innovative game design and storytelling. The game isn't heavy on doalogue options like the Bioware titles, but you're still making powerful, impacting decisions. You customize your character's proficiencies and body augmentations. And I loved the ending I got, won't tell which =p

It's just a damn shame the sequel didn't deliver. I have high hopes for Human revolution, but I don't think it's probable that they'll surpass the magic.
