When you had the ability to choose from a number of characters, who would you select for your ideal party, and why?
Perhaps they were the strongest and best in the game, or maybe they were simply your favorite and most beloved characters?
How did your decision affect the outcome of your game (more physical attacks, more magic attacks, more/less difficulty when facing boss battles)?
As for me, I almost always chose my favorites over the strongest. For example:
- In VII my ideal team (on disc 1) was Cloud, Aerith, and Cait Sith. Boss battles were a NIGHTMARE for me, but I loved having my favorite characters all together on one team.
- In VIII, I had Squall, Rinoa, and Quistis because it was all about the GIRL POWER! XD This made it somewhat difficult when fighting enemies with high magic defense. Plus I was too lazy to gather a bunch of energy crystals, so Squall was the only party member who had his ultimate weapon.
- In XIII, it was also all about GIRL POWER for me when I chose Lightning, Fang, and Vanille. I hadn't built up Vanille's synergist abilities very well by the time I reached the end of the game, so I actually had to switch her out for HOPE at the last boss battle. That sucked.
