The television coverage of many of the large no-limit poker tournaments has led to many misconceptions about the frequency of bluffing in poker games.

Riiiiiiiiight.

This doesn't belong in my section, and it's a pointless thread anyway =/ so imma gonna close it now.

PM me if you want it reopened and moved to the appropriate section (if there is one)

Ok, this could go here I guess.

As for Poker on TV, I love watching it. I like to watch other people's strategies, methods, deceptions, etc. I don't play much poker unless it's for like $10 or so, but when I do, it goes pretty good. Bluffing is an art. If you have it, use it well and enjoy.

It has, and it hasn't. As a result of all the poker tournament shown on TV, many of the young gun internet players are shoving their chips in more often. Players like Daniel Negreanu are having to be more defensive these days because these young kids will bet with anything, call with anything, and generally almost play completely stupid.

But, it also depends on your definition of the word "bluff". A bluff, in the strict sense, was commonly seen as betting when you have nothing at all. But these days, new players see it as bluffing with the second best hand.

The younger generation of poker players are deffinitely bluffing more often, if they're on the same table as say Daniel Negreanu or Phil Hellmuth, they bluff huge amounts in the hope of stealing the pot just so they can say they stole the pot from a poker pro, but if they're called then it's a whole different story.
