I had played FF7 a little bit when I was younger with various friends who had PS1s but never played it too far in, but I really enjoyed it a lot, especially the story. Over the years I've gotten more and more into RPGs, especially the final fantasy games, but they can be very time consuming, especially when it comes to trying to figure out where to go or what to do next (i get lost very easily), which ends up being very frustrating.
I started playing FF7 for the PC years ago and got about midway I think before, for whatever reason, I stopped. I tried picking it back up a few times since then but couldn't remember for the life of me where I was or what I was doing so it seemed impossible. I actually have very recently finally figured out what I was doing and have begun progressing again, but now I realize I've completely forgotten nearly everything about the story since then so it almost doesn't even seem worth playing.
So I'm thinking, I'd really like to read a novelization to catch me up, or even just to read all the way through so I can play FF7 at my leisure without feeling forced or compelled to beat it in a specific timeframe and can just enjoy it for what it is.
I know that there has not been an official novelization, or at least not one in america, but I hear there are many fan adaptations, and I'm wondering what one is the best (and where to find it).
My criteria are mainly about how well it is written, how comprehensive it is, and how closely it is adapted from the game.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
