So, you've created an RPG account, and have no idea what to do? Well, here's some help to get you started:
-Go to Midgar. Buy a Jack Knife, and any other equipment you want (potions help a lot. Two Jack Knifes allow you to attack twice in one turn- extremely helpful. Equip everything you can (see the introduction thread).
-Travel to Cyril, then travel to South Cyril Beach. You may encounter your first monster battle here. You should have no trouble winning it.
-Talk to Cid (an NPC). He seems to want help taking down a powerful monster up north.
-You could go after it now, but I recommend hunting monsters in South Cyril Beach until you get to Lv. 3.
-Once you get to lv. 3, split your attribute points between STR and DEF (mostly STR), heal yourself, get some potions, and then move to North Cyril Beach. You will encounter your first boss...
-BOSS: Lizardman HP: 250 MP: 100
This guy's attack is deceiving- an STR of 10 doesn't look so high until he pounds you with his nasty blade. This is mostly a battle of endurance- if you're at a good level and have some potions, you will win, but it will be a long fight. Don't expect any fancy tricks here- just keep attacking and healing when your HP get's low.
-Talk to Cid again, and he will refer you to the guard at Midgar.
-Go to Midgar, and talk to the guard. He will unlock the area "Knight Tower". Go to it from the World Map.
-Talk to Gordon. He will offer you your first quest- delivering a message to Fynn.
-Of course, getting there won't be so easy, as you will have to go through the Giza Plains, which contain some very powerful monsters. I recommend going back to North Cyril Beach and training there until you get to at least lv. 6 or 7. Also, be sure to fully equip yourself with armor- you will have to combine components for certain pieces of armor. It will be worth it in the long run, though.
-Go to Giza Plains when you feel ready. There, you will encounter...
-BOSS: Minotaur HP: 300 MP: 0
The Minotaur is MUCH more difficult than the Lizardman, and if you haven't prepared correctly, he will turn you into a bloody corpse rather quickly. All he does is attack and heal, but he is extremely fast- and like the Lizardman, his STR is far higher than what it looks. So instead of trying to out-attack him, focus on defending his strikes. A complete set of armor and several potions are a virtual requirement for this battle- once you are well protected, this boss won't seem so difficult, and you will eventually win by attacking him.
After beating the minotaur and collecting the awesome reward, you will be about halfway through your quest on Ivalace (the first island). There are still bosses to beat and areas to explore, so train, talk to everyone you meet, and have fun!
