Asking about FF XI

I heard somewhat about this mmorpg,and I'm interested in playing it. I have some questions.

Is there option that lets you play for free?

Can you customize your character to look like yourself,and can your character be able to wear glasses?

There's a free trial, but apart from that, there's no way to play FF XI for free. Other MMO's have illegal private servers which are free to play on, but to my knowledge there aren't any for FF XI. As far as customization goes, you MIGHT be able to create a character which looks a little like you, but don't expect a 100% lookalike. It's a pretty old game and only has 8 face types to choose from once you've picked your race/gender.

As far as customisation, face types & hair style & hair colour. Selected choice, though. I recently just got the 14-day-free trial and as the above poster said, it is the only way of free gaming on it.
Ofc, when you get armour, it shows up on your character so that's a kind of customisation, but even then you usually buy it cause you need it, rather than what it looks like. ;] I suppose there might be some sort of armour that might be glasses... (; You never know!
