Below, I will bring up a concern that Shahab has brought up many times and is something I was never able to fix while I was a graphical moderator because at the time I believed implementing something like a graphical license that only allowed users to vote if they were able to admire more than the stock would sound blasphemous, and it probably does.
GFX is more tricky than Art because some people appreciate the art of the stock and not the composition of the piece which is what they SHOULD be voting on. At least the art competition is based purely on the "stock" of the image. :3
I don't find what you're saying to be rude, honestly. Input is always good.I realize this, but I'm surprised no one has really caught onto what I've been trying to say without being rude.
Well, regardless of age, everyone "appreciates" art. Artists themselves do have a deeper appreciation for the skill that is involved. But I'm fairly certain that any average person can have a favorite picture that relates to the theme. :3 And they can explain why they like it.Simply; those who do not produce art do not have the ability to admire skill and the ability it takes to make a work best fit the theme. That is my concern, because in all my time of being a graphics moderator, this has occurred time and time again.
This is why the theme must be carefully regulated to if at all possible, level the playing field. Art contests are tricky but a lot of fun. =)It's always about what makes the stock look pretty or whatever character you admire that's being used. I seldom see posts that would state otherwise.
I agree that rules must be strict in some aspects and loose in others. Example, media used must be regulated. and the theme must be regulated also. It's up to the artist's interpretation of the theme to really create a wonderful winning piece. ^^ And how well they deliver it to the viewer.I'm just suggesting that you give artists some real meaning in being elite and to maybe use some strict rules if deemed necessary.
