Merely months after the devastating crane collapse in New York City in March, yet another crane collapses today, taking the lives of two construction workers. The fact that such a thing should happen twice in one city in the same year is frightening. Crane Inspections should be properly be executed more frequently and more efficiently in the future to avoid a tragedy such as this. I pray for families who lost a loved one this day, and also to the families who lost loved ones in the March crane collapse...

I hadn't heard of either of those incidents. They collapsed due to faulty hardware? Or maybe the machine wasn't being handled properly.

It's a shame either way. Even when safety's stressed, accidents happen.

Hmm, my Grandfather was killed by a crane during winter... Since then I was always scared of cranes.

How did they break though? Was the load too heavy?

I don't know. They might have been old and worn out. The thing is that all of NYC has only 3 safetey inspectors, so the cranes weren't examined well. It's a shame. They need to work on getting proper inspections for these things before more people are hurt or killed.
