Well here I am on ebay with a couple dollars to spare. I'm really looking into buying a couple different Anne Rice books. The only books of hers that I have read are: Interview with the Vampire, the Vampire Lestat, and half of Blackwood Farm...

I was the most impressed with the Vampire Lestat. ^.^
I am already planning on buying Blood and Gold, since it actually dates back 2000 years; I love the historical references in her books...

I am looking for some of her books that are similar to Marius' story in Blood and Gold; something that dates back very far, and has a long, solid story.
I am not however interested in Christ out of Egypt, even though it dates back so far...

Any opinions?
Any book reviews?

I used to be a really big fan of Anne Rice... until I starting reading the Vampire Armand.

So far you've read the first two books of the Vampire Chronicles, and I would recommend going on to the third one, Queen of the Damned. However, I would urge you to stop there. The next novel in the series, Tale of the Body Thief is pretty good, but a rather disappointing follow-up to the epic QotD.

Basically after the Vampire Lestat, the Vampire Chronicles goes downhill. By the time it gets to the fifth book, Memnoch the Devil, the series has spoiled.

But Queen of the Damned should still give you a great experience - I always thought that Anne should've stopped the Chronicles after this book. It would've been a pretty satisfying end.

I keep seeing Memnoch the Devil pop up here and there, and the title is enough to buy me, but I am not interested in reading the whole series again just to get to the fifth book..

Are there any others? Not necessarily vampire books...?

I think we already have an Anne Rice thread ...

Well Im currently reading Interview with the Vampire and I also have Queen of the Damned which was just given to me lol. I love her style of writing.

I'm not much of a reader but I have so the films interview with a vampire and queen of the damned, both were amazing in my opinion and books give alot more incite.

Interview was a great book, and the movie was relatively okay.

Queen of the Damned was a pretty good book, with an awful movie. Really, the movie utterly botches the plot for two reasons:

1) Because the book is so long and has so many characters, it would easily take two or three movies to fully honor.

2) Because the studio didn't like some of Anne's less kosher themes (homosexuality, questioning God, etc.).

So I recommend anybody to watch the movie, and read the book afterwards. Because when you do it the other way around, the movie totally is underwhelming and wrong.

OK...if you gonna read Vampire Chronicles...read first five books and then after Memnoch do not even bother any more. So Interview, Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, Tale of the Body Thief and Memnoch is the only thing worth reading from Chronicles and in that order.

Any vampire books she wrote after that are big pile of CRAP, WATERED DOWN NONSENSE, that goes for Blood and Gold too and NEW VAMPIRE CHRONICLES AVOID LIKE THE DAMN PLAGUE....aweful books, unless you like pages of gay mild vampire porn...

But I can recommend The Mayfair Chronicles: The Witching Hour, Lasher and Taltos.

Also, Master of the Bones is ok...and the other one, the Mummy one, cannot remember the full title, sorry....I did not read any other ones...
