Alright, so I have an animated gif that I would like as my avatar. However, whenever I go to set it as my avatar, it shrinks the picture and thusly botches the avatar. I've tried to shrink it externally but I can't seem to get it to work. Any thoughts?

I searched around for a thread on this subject but one is nearly impossible to find since an Advanced Search on "avatar" brings back about a thousand threads on avatar requests. :/

The system automatically reduces the size of the avatar to comply with the size restrictions set for your particular usergroup, usually keeping the sizes in proportion. If you re-size it externally, the first frame of the .gif is often taken, instead, and the image remains motionless.

The avatar looks fine as it is. xD
 
It should be flashy and seizure-inducing, dammit! 47.2% of these boards is dedicated to graphic design. Someone show your gfx prowess and make my avatar sparkle! SPARKLE BITCHES!
 
Omg this is exactly what I hate how do you put an animated avatar for your avatar I weant to do the same thing but after it just remains motionless like there is no animation at all. How do I keep it with the Animation?
 
Wow this thing still does not even work I am really getting pissed off at this kind of stuff. How come the picture you posted has an animation? When I put mine there is no animation.
 
Nah, here, I resized it for you, I put it as my avi for a sec to see if it'd work and it does.

Your problem there is that it's not a direct link to the image. I'd recommend finding it on photobucket, or a similar location, and trying from there.

As an aside, that image to which you linked me doesn't move on that site, either. :wacky:
 
Yeah Vayne but when you put full size it seems to work but the forum length is only 50 so I think I can not put that avatar and if I resize it the animation will not show.

For your usergroup, the maximum avatar size is 100x100 pixels. No usergroups have a lower limitation...so you're doing something wrong. xD
 
Yeah Vayne I guess I was doing something wrong well whatever screw it I just can not do it. There is no animation at all!!!
 
Since this 'problem' appears to now be solved, I'll close this thread. MLFY, the only problem that I can see is the lack of a direct link to the image you want. Right click, save it to your computer, then upload it from there and see if that makes a difference. If not...just find it elsewhere. I suggest Google Images or Photobucket.
