im having some problems when im putting text in my sig
when i put a sig, and like around 2 lines of text, why does this happen ??
and it says that you can have upto 5 lines of text
plz answer my question someone
 
Also got the same problem here, tried many diffrent stuff, I PMed Sephire about it, so I hope it's being solved^_^
 
5 lines of text allowed in a sig, any more and the system will not allow it.

If you have less then that then it must be your image thats causing the problem.

Also spaces count as a line aswell so try missing out any extra lines in your sig.
 
So how many lines do images take?
Because I had once I had 2 images and 5 lines of text in my sig...
 
If you allow infinite lines, some spammers might have sigs that stretch to about 20 pages all advertising thier site in a link a thousand times....
 
Restrictions are there for a reason though I think 5 lines is a little too few.

As far as I know you should be able to have an image or two and up to 5 lines of text.
 
I don't believe it's strictly 5 lines - as you can see, I have more than that, and my signature before that had around 8 lines. I can guess that strict guidelines may be instigated one day soon, because of the growing size of FFF. As of yet, don't worry too much if you have an extra line. If that does happen, I just use a smaller font and a smaller size.
 
Signatures may contain images, but must be no larger than 500x100 px. If your signature is larger than the allotted size given or deemed unacceptable by staff, you will be requested by a moderator to resize or change your signature. Please also try and keep text signatures under 5 lines. Failure to comply with a moderator's request to fix your signature will result in the removal of it.

Please also be mindful of your images' filesize. If an image is deemed to be too large and bogs down our dial-up users, we may request you to edit the image(s) in your signature. Full rules are available at the forum guidelines.

Thats what appears above the area to enter your sig when editing it.
 
I say maybe 10, or the spoiler thing like GP has. Instead of the normal 'replace the words with a black box' it makes a button that you click and something appears. that saves room in sigs.
 
As long as it doesn't make sigs unsightly to look at..there shouldnt be a problem.
 
Well DB seems to think that 5 lines is enough as sigs are just supposed to be simple and fair.

Many staff seem to think it should be longer, so well try to see what we can do. However DB's word is law so if he wants it as 5 it will remain as 5.
 
Im not complaining about the line limit, im complaining about a glitch in the system not allowing me to have more than 2 lines 0.o
 
Yes, DB says that he really thinks 5 lines is enough, but as mentioned, it's not an actual rule, more of a guideline. I would encourage to stick to the guidlines, but if it's really necessary that you go over 5 lines...then I guess it can't be helped. As DT said, he's brought it up in the Staff Lounge and it's currently under discussion, so we'll see what DB decides [his decision is final].
