In the thread started by Adamant, there has been entirely too much bickering. I believe that since we have four mods now, we could get a lot done quickly, if we worked together and were assigned specific parts in a new project.
Yes, Adamant proved by messing with the defaults yesterday, that changing the stats will not make the game worthy of remaining. We really need to start a new game. But not the game Adamant suggested. Something we all agree on. It does not even have to be started with Gold. It can be two or three months away.
I do not know about Adamant. But I need a break from this for a while. It has been a constant work in progress since September. By Adamant saying the whole game is flawed just made my jaws drop. Well he put in a lot of time on it too. But he has to realize that he cannot always be running the show. I have taken a back seat because I do not care about being the big shot. The reason I jumped at his idea was because he was planning on just starting on it now, alone. He did not ask what others thought. He just threw it on us and said this is how things should be. That is wrong.
Yes, the game should be more balanced. That is why you need to follow a formula when creating monsters. I know Adamant likes to write stories. Stories are cool. But people play RPGs for the fighting. You train, with the monsters, so you can build up your stats for either PvPs or future bosses.
Since Adamant loves messing with triggers and NPCs. Maybe he should just concentrate on that. As for the monster stats relating to the stats of the players, we need to create defaults that make this work easily. But we need to work as team. No more bickering. No more trying to push ideas. Lets all agree on a game plan. Not go off in different directions.
Adamant, you do realize all games get beaten. You should not worry about how long it takes people to get through an area. The game needs to be an adventure. It needs to have challenge. It cannot be an easy level up. Every level should be earned. The formula for making monsters is that a player needs to reach a certain level to beat them. That is what I mean by a monster being easy. If a monster is being beaten by a player that is way too low of a level, it is easy. In the early parts of the game, I trained with what the players had. Even though you think your monsters fit the formula, you need to test them out to see if they are acting as they should. That is why I find spells a pain in the ass. It is another formula that needs to be added. Particularly spell based monsters need to be tested. You never even bothered to discuss this. There is a lot that can change a fight. The game has tons of variables. So, to be honest, there is no such thing as an invisible game. There will always be somebody out there that can beat it. But you can make it so it takes that person longer to get through. It is up to you. How easy do you want to make the game? Give people easy monsters so they can level fast? What is the point in doing that?
