I'm trying to get to the bottom of the first games to do certain things when it comes to 3D graphics. Such as the first game to use polygons, the first game to use texture mapping, and the first game to use pixel shaders.
About the most I know right now is that 3D has in a way been around forever (not really, but you get my point), that bump mapping has been around for awhile, and that most effects used in current games are relatively new (except bump mapping).
Any further help? You can start with "the first game to use polygons" if you want to.
