This is the place to talk about perhaps one of the greatest strategy games of all time. Either AW, AW2 or AWDS can be talked about.
Currently, I have played and beaten AW and AWDS, both on the hard difficulty, and have only sampled AW2. I'd say that after AW came out, AW2 only improved it with SuperCo Powers, more COs, and a great story for an Advance Wars game.
AWDS was fun, but something was missing from it. I think the fact that you can choose your CO took a lot of the intensity out of the game. Instead of having to calculate and plan, you could pick someone who would excel and just bash your way through (Or use Grit and Colin over and over and over...). It was not a struggle to get through the game on normal, and even then it didn't get much harder on the hard campaign. More COs were added, which is always a good thing. Even the new units were fun to use. But why did they have to change Olaf's powers.. =/
AW2 is my favorite right now, since the storyline involves you in some way. It isn't very strong of a story, but a huge improvement over the first game. AW2 also is far more challenging, which I love! The best part of this series is the challenge: a small band of military units going against the odds of fighting a force twice the size. Victory is achieved through positioning and tactics.
I have done very well on these games, commonly attaining the S rank on missions and war rooms, and on occasion the A ranking (because my power score was around 30ish, while speed and technique are at 100).
Surely others have played these games, and there is a lot to discuss. Mainly, we could discuss which COs are good or bad and which are broken =p
