I've just finally reached level 55, Commander on the online mode... my question is this:

Is prestige mode worth it?

I ask because I understand that you lose all your weapons, since you essentially lose all your levels... I've also heard that you lose all your challenges, which helps you level up faster, but I suppose that would also make you lose your golden weapons, is that true? Obviously, I'm trying to decide if I want to go prestige or not... I think that if I can keep my golden weapons I'll go for it, but if I can't, I'm thinking I won't bother... becasue really, you don't need to.

I looked at the leader boards, and 16th place overall in the world has never gone prestige... sure most everyone else around him (including 1-10 in the world) are maxed out prestige... but its clear your don't ever have to, and that it doesn't really do anything for you.

I understand its just a bragging right... and the way I see it... you can brag all you want, but if I can snipe a .50 calibur bullet into your head from across the map, you're still a poozer... so yeah... what do you all think? Is pretige worth the extra time and effort for the lack of reward? And would I be able to keep my golden weapons, or would I have to earn those all over again, too?

Well first off, you don't lose the progress you've made regarding the challenges if you choose to enter prestige mode. You will, however, lose your golden guns if you've managed to obtain any of 'em. Since you lose all your weapons (except the default weaponry assigned to beginning players), that's to be expected. Once you get to a high enough level within the prestige, you'll get the weapons back again.

Prestige mode is worth it if you're looking for some extra incentive to keep playing. If you want to keep destroying the competition with the P90, then don't go prestige. If you want to become more highly decorated, then head into prestige mode.

Personally, I think prestige mode is worth it. I don't care about showing off my medals or anything. I just wouldn't have been able to play the game as long as I did if I didn't have anything to work towards.

Thanks for the advice... but, uh... I acutally got talked into going Prestige by my clanmates yesterday... I miss my guns, but I'm finding it twice as easy as teh first time round, so I'm okay... oh, and... I don't know what you mean by "you don't lose the progress you've made regarding the challenges if you choose to enter prestige mode," but I lost all my progress on the challenges, as they reset along with everything else... it seems that the only stuff I kept when entering it was my player stats in the Leaderboards, all of the game options, and my Clan Tag.

Haha, I was the opposite...I only ever started doing the prestiges for bragging rights >.<
Going into prestige doesn't necessarily mean that person is better, it just gives an indication on how experienced that person is. To be honest I only got to something like 6th prestige until I got bored and gave up on it.

Yeah, turns out I was mistaken. I never paid a whole lot of attention to my challenges. I asked my brother, who's a prestige 10 player (fully maxed rank), and he confirmed what you said. I assumed you wouldn't lose, say, all the headshots you've accumulated with the Dragunov prior to entering prestige mode. Sorta lame that you do.

I guess that's why he chose to complete all the challenges and obtain the gold weaponry only after he went through prestige mode ten times. haha
