The Traditional Chinese version will not carry English subtitles, according to a press release from Sony Asia.
Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan will once again step up to handle the Asian release outside of Japan for Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster. Recently, Square Enix has partnered with SCE’s Asian arm to bring Final Fantasy to a larger audience and this year’s latest release is no exception.
Unlike FFXIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns, however, it seems the X|X-2 bundle will be limited in its choices. The publisher will bring about two versions: one with Japanese voice overs and Chinese subtitles, and a second option with English voices and English subtitles – or effectively the same version western fans will receive later this year. Previous Final Fantasy releases had the option for English subtitles with the Japanese audio, so its exclusion here is somewhat disappointing for those English-speaking fans who may have wanted to play with the original cast.
According to the press release, SCE Asia is committed to bringing even more high quality games to the rapidly expanding Chinese market.Both versions of the game are scheduled to release in 2013 for PS3 and PS Vita.
